Earlier this month I entered a VOTING contest with Eco-Foil (even though I hate those...), and it turns out that Eco-Foil got wind of there being unfair vote-getting practices. So, they re-evaluated how they determined the winners. From their Facebook page:

"Okay, first we'd like to say THANK YOU to all the participants in our photo contest. We received a few complaints via email about unfair voting tactics and after further investigation we decided it was best to level the playing field by assembling a team of voters here at Handi-Foil headquarters. The panel of judges have been examining the photos over the past week and we are finishing the final tally as this is being typed. We will be posting the results shortly."

I'm so glad that they did that... because I was chosen as the grand prize winner!

Grand Prize: 16GB iPad 2, $50 iTunes gift card, Belkin Kitchen Stand with a Stylus, Eco-Foil apron, and an Eco-Foil Pan Prize Pack (ARV $590).

If it was based purely on votes, I wouldn't have come close. However, to everyone who put in the work to vote for me... thank you so much!

Congratulations to you, and it's nice to hear that a company finally wised up. I don't enter voting contests because I feel they are more popularity contests than luck of the draw. I, for one, would like to see the "voting" contests go away so that everyone has a fair shot at winning.

Congratulations! I wish they all would switch to random or judged. Judged entries mean the quality of entries would improve significantly too! Congrats again and enjoy your prizes!

I'm w/ya on voting contests, I personally don't mind being spammed (obviously as a sweeper lol) BUT - I don't believe in spamming my friends and begging for votes! Anyway, to each their own.

I love this b/c it seems so much more fair! WAY TO GO, what an interesting win situation!

Congratulations! Hope to see this as a big change to voting contests. I don't enter them ever. I can't see myself asking people to vote for me and some people can get thousands to vote for them. Very happy for you!
