Do you believe in luck?

Do you believe that some people are just born lucky, that things come to them without them really trying or do you believe in destiny, it doesn't really matter if you entered that daily once or a hundred times, that prize was meant to be yours so you won it or do you believe you create your own luck by hard work and perseverance?

I have always considered myself as unlucky ( I am trying to change that mind set, I do believe in the power of positive thinking). Others have told me I am lucky because I do win occasionally (at least once a month) but they don't see all the time and work I put into sweeping. I have 513 dailies that I do 99 % of the time, once or twice a month I just don't feel like doing all of them and I have 1633 one time sweeps right now, that doesn't include the occasional blog sweeps I do. I spend about 3 to 4 hours everyday just sweeping.

What do you believe? What about yourself?

No, I don't believe in luck. To believe in that would be to be superstitious which is against my religious beliefs. Simply, I believe God lets us know when he approves of how we go about life and when he doesn't.

Yes, I believe in LUCK! :sunny: I am so superstitious that I refuse to throw black cats under ladders at broken mirrors on the 13th of every month! I always have my bingo marker, rabbit's foot, and troll doll handy just in case of emergencies. And I have almost worn the belly button off my brass buddha!

... and the rest of the time I am throwing salt over my shoulder!

:crazytongue: :crazytongue: As Flip Wilson's immortal character Geraldine always said, "The devil made me do it!" :crazytongue: :crazytongue:

you need to have a positive attitude. It does help. I do believe some people are luckier than others. or rather unlucky. I have known people that it seems bad luck just seems to follow them.

I absolutely believe in luck. I have always been "lucky". Maybe it's because I take chances, but my cousin always said I was the luckiest person she ever knew.

Yes, I do believe in luck.

My brother calls me "Alittle bit of luck" after the NY Lottery Mascot guy on the television! lol

I think if you win a "one time entry" you are lucky. Everyone is only entering one time. Everyone has the same chances of winning.
If you win an "instant" , you are lucky. It's just the time of the day you enter. You luckily entered at the right time.
If you win a daily , you entered every day and quite often. I believe with the dailies, the more you enter , the better your chances of winning are.

I firmly believe, that when it's your turn to win, you win.

I believe I have been very lucky in life.
I am married to a wonderful man and have two super grown sons.

I don't have everything I want, but I definitely have everything I need and then some.

I have my health and great friends . . . . .

I am a very lucky woman.

No luck, I believe in God and love and being blessed. I also believe it is available to anyone at anytime if they just ask and have faith. no person is any better or worse then anyone else.

I'm reading Gerolamo Cardano's Liber de ludo aleae (Book on Games of Chance) right now, which deals with "luck" vs. probability.
It also helps to review The Nichomachean Ethics...er, maybe you don't want me to answer this

you old cabbage you, are you stirring it up?? lol lol lol

As David said.. Everyone has to believe in something.. I believe I'll have another beer

I believe in luck but I also think most of what we get is hard work

I believe people are both lucky and unlucky at sometime in their life and good or bad luck depends on the way you look at it.

Last year was I unlucky to lose my job or lucky that it happened at a time where it meant I could be with my mother in the last two weeks of her life?

Unlucky when stray gunfire hits my car or lucky that I had left the car a few minutes before?

Unlucky that lightening struck a tree that fell on the roof above my spare room starting a fire or lucky that if it had fallen the other direction would have landed on my bedroom?

Unlucky that the fire ruined over 300 T-shirts that were wins or freebies or lucky that they were the only things I lost?

Unlucky that last year I won nothing valued at over $500 or lucky that I won sweepstakes valued at under $500 116 times?

So I know why I may be unlucky at the next sweepstakes I could be lucky enough to win the one after that.

With me, I seem to be the lucky one, but then no one else does what I do , I tried telling a few people about my wins and how to do them they always say, I dont have time or most dont say anything, no one I knows takes chances like I do , as far as my doing sweeps, I stopped telling people because I was tired of the remarks and being ignored. My thing is if you dont enter you cant win.. I like the way deerwalker put it we are both lucky and unlucky in life,

This a true story and why I started believing, I was lucky---
When I was about 20 years old , I went on a bus ride to the Strawberry Festival with my Mom we stopped at the beginning of the festival to play a spin the wheel numbers game the game where you pick a # put 50 cents on it and they spin a giant wheel if you # comes up you win well I decided to play my favorite # 19 , I was the only on playing and my # came up I was so excited I got to pick my choice gift then we stood back and watched other people try different #'s came up and no one was winning then I decided to play again just for the fun of it picked 19 again and again I won.. My mom was so surprised and the people behind the booth as well. I thought about that win going home and decided I was real lucky and decided to enter and try as many things as I could , I have won so much stuff it is incredible no giant wins like a car or a house but sometimes ,I feel I even though I lost I still have won..

I complain sometimes I havent won in a while but I do that a lot of times to get the ball rolling...

I am also lucky in other things , I survived Katrina, and got so much closer to my family and fell truly blessed,,

YEAH I belive in luck and I like everyones responses..

GOOD GOOD LUCK TO ALL ++
And remember with sweeps someone has got to win it may as well be you - (Unless I get it first)

I think people are lucky in different ways and to different degrees. You know like lucky finding love or a wonderful family or maybe a great job they enjoy. Some people are lucky in helping others or their strong faith. Others are lucky in they have a lot of great friends, or they have a fabulous talent. And yes some people are lucky when it comes to sweeps, because of that luck they are extremely motivated to enter more and that increases their chance of future wins. Kind of like a snowball affect.

I think some of it is in your head. There are some who have next to nothing and they feel lucky when they win something small. I have also seen some who have so much yet they don't appreciate it and feel unlucky because they did not win the "big" prize.

So I guess some luck, some motivation, some appreciation.
