After years of entering sweepstakes, I finally won a big one.

Jerry Carrigan,

We're happy to let you know you're a winner in the MLB® All-Star Week™ Sweepstakes! You've won a Trip for Four (4) to the 2018 MLB All-Star Game, which has an approximate retail value of $10,500.00. Congratulations!

But I can't go. Due to the dates and requirement of four people . But I am still happy, a win is a win

You can ask if they can give you cash instead. Some will honor it... congrats.
 
Congrats! It never hurts to ask if they would provide a cash equivalent if you can't use it. There are many times when things come up, family plans or otherwise, where suddenly you're no longer able to travel when previously you could. This is especially true for long term sweeps that run for six months or more. For example, right now you might be entering to win a sweeps that requires you travel in January and in October you make plans for a cruise and forget that requirement. It happens. You can't put your life on hold, so let them know and see what they offer. Also, I've entered many sweeps where up to four people can travel, but only two of us traveled. Just because the sweeps is for a certain amount of people or tickets, most will allow only two people to travel. After all, you're the one paying the taxes on the win and less people traveling would obviously lower the overall value and your liability. You may wish to check on that.

Oh wow! Congratulations! Gosh that sounds amazing! All the best hopefully it works out either as cash or as a 2-person trip. :D
