Hi when I use the sweeps advantage site now it seriously slows down my computer. Opening the webpages for the sweeps, scrolling on the sweeps pages, and saving sweeps. It only started a few weeks ago but it's everyday and only when I get on the sweeps advantage site. also, occasionally it will say shock wave plug in crashed at the top and to reload. It actually really starts to crash when I get onto the new sweeps page for each day. Any input would be appreciated.

Are you using Firefox?
Try disabling the shockwave flash player. You'll find that many sites require it but you'll have the option via pop-up to - allow (website) to run Adobe Flash. Your options are - 1) allow now or 2) allow and remember. In other words, you're allowing a specific website to: 1) run once or 2) run permanently. Open the menu - 3 horizontal bars, top right, and click on Add-ons. Scroll down on the page that opens and find shockwave flash. To the right, click on the rectangular box labeled "options" On the next page, at the lower left , click on the box "always activate" and change to "ask to activate".

You'll find that Firefox will be much faster. You'll also find that many videos on various websites and the news services like CBS, ABC, FOX, etc. and some sweeps won't load properly, but you'll have the option to use the shockwave flash player for each site. You'll get the pop-up I mentioned earlier for each site that requires flash, and you can select one time or permanent use. If you select permanent, you shouldn't have a problem with that website in the future, as you've allowed it to use the flash player permanently. You can now pick and choose which websites you want to be able to use the shockwave flash player and whether that use is one time or permanent.

:)

I'm using google chrome but I will try to disable shockwave in that. If it doesn't work I will try firefox. Thanks!

Admin is aware:

Are you using Firefox and Adobe Flash? There is a security issue with these and you should uninstall adobe flash using the windows control panel. Flash is no longer required to be installed separately as it's built into many web browsers now.

This is not an SA issue. It probably only happens on our site due to the type of ads ( flash enabled ).

You could also switch to using IE or Chrome but I would uninstall Adobe Flash.

It seems that most websites I visit use flash for videos. If I visit the site often, like CNN News, I click the "permanent" option. Chrome's response might not be the same as Firefox. By that I mean you might not have the same options as you do in Firefox. It's possible that Chrome is either on or off without the choices that you get in Firefox. You may need to experiment with the settings in Chrome.

PS: I had to allow SA to run shockwave flash and I chose the permanent option. Also, there is a new sweep in yesterdays dailies (Del Monte Fruit and Veggie Fusions) and I had to allow shockwave flash in order to read the rules.

I've had the same problem. Seemed like it got better, but recently the site has been lagging again. I'm using Google Chrome.

Troubleshooting tips/steps for technical difficulties;

1] make sure you are up to date on your browser/FLASH & allow the site thru your browser
2] Disable popup/adblockers, then
3] reload & retry,
4] use a different browser or,
5] Try again later.

Still not working properly?

>clear cookies/temp files & reboot ;
Your computer may be holding on to cached (old versions) of the page you want to load. If you dump temp files & cookies, the next time you try to load the page, your computer will have to load the newest version rather than the outdated one in your files.

OR

Switch to Opendns.com for DNS as some ISP's use outdated DNS servers.
