Honestly, wasnt sure what section to put this in but decided on freebies cuz its free to search and get your own money back.

I encourage everyone to check this site once per year: https://unclaimed.org/

Its possible that you have money that is yours being held by the state, just waiting for you to claim it.

I know it probably sounds too good to be true and the website gives you more details, but after a period of time companies/financial institutions are required to report and turn over abandoned funds to the state treasury office. This includes things like: over payments, deposits, refunds and etc. When I first heard about this, I was sure I wouldnt have any money but both me and my parents had money.

Tip: if you've live in more than one state, search each state. If you are an heir, executor/administrator of an estates, have family members who have passed on, its probably a good idea to search their names as well.

if you are claiming as an heir be prepared to supply a copy of the death certificate as well. You can check you states unclaimed funds..it’s easy and kinda fun when you find something!

Yes, if you are claiming for an heir, you'll be required to provide a death certificate and (perhaps other paperwork? I'm not sure if the process varies from state to state).

Yes, its fun to search and even better when you find something...mine and my parents amounts have never been big, but every penny counts and I think everybody should check just in case. I read somewhere that the average claim amount is less than 100 dollars but some people have hundreds or thousands of dollars sitting just waiting for them. I remember a few years ago reading about a man whose father had passed and it turns out his dad had abut 700,000 dollars unclaimed that he was entitled to😳.
