Cheaters?

I think i found the Paula Dean Spinach quiche recipe on Smithfield.com. i was originally looking at her spiral ham with the crackled glaze, i believe i originally saw that on HSN. and it looked delicious, so i was looking to see if a local supermarket sells it, and they do , only at King Kullen, but while we were on the website, we saw the spinache quiche. when i tell you it was delicious! it was delicious!. I couldn't get over how good it really was. anything in a pie shell i love. I love home made chicken pot pie. when that is cooking in the kitchen it smells delicious. or a home made apple pie, or a pumpkin pie. Mmmmm....

You should look up and find her "Tomato Pie". I thought it was very good.

Right now, we only have "Waldbaum's" and "King Kullen" to shop in, and they are so expensive. Luckily, they're putting in a "Stop N Shop" which will be cheaper. I rather have a "ShopRite" though. They have the best prices. Unfortunately, the prices on the Island are higher than the same stores off the Island. Once in awhile, I will shop in one of the "ShopRites" out here when we're driving around. I also like the BJ's in Westbury. I think that's the biggest one out here(?). Ours is small.

I live on the island too, so I know what you mean. Do you remember before stop & shop they were Edwards? that is when I used to get all the great discounts and they doubled a $1.00. Only King Kullen doubles a $1.00 and they are extremely high priced and limited brands, that i don't shop there.
I am right there with you on Shoprite! I love their can can sale. and other sales. but, their sales were better to about 10 years ago.
do you remember years ago Marie Callenders made these microwavable dinners/lunches? they had penne ala vodka, linguini with clam sauce? I would get them on sale for .99 cents. I would stock up. and I would have those for lunch. I don't even see them in the stores, only Waldbaums seems to carry her brand, and they are very limited.

I've only been out here for just under five years. My husband was born out here, but we're planning on getting the heck out of here!! Off the Island, Stop N Shops were always that. We had no Edwards; and off the Island, the ShopRites still have great sales. I brought home a flier from a ShopRite by Poughkeepsie, NY and stopped at the one off of 495 on the way home. I grabbed their flier, and the prices on alot of things were very much different in sales price. I like the Marie Callender's, but you should be able to find them in ShopRite and Pathmark. I've found them in there before.

I went to Waldbaums yesterday, and I use the internet manufacturer coupons, all of a sudden the cashier says "we are no longer accepting internet coupons" so i go see the manager and he says the same thing.
If they are manufacturer coupons then they should be good , don't you think? and it was a $1.00 off of one. I wasnt' going to have to buy 2.

They just did that to us this past weekend. Do what I did. Go to www.smartsource.com and contact them. Tell them what happened and give them the store name, address, and phone number. They say to contact them if a store won't take them, and they will contact the store.

I sent them an email to let them know about the internet coupon problems with my local grocery store.

I made the homemade rice balls tonight. It made 46 of them!!!!!!!!!! Them's are lots a balls!!!!!!!!!!! (said with an italian accent)

penne ala vodka ~ I saw this tonight in the freezer, but it was a different brand. It was the first time that our Kroger had ever carried this selection and I was thinking about trying it but was sorta scared of it at the same time. I will try to think of the name, but I know that it is a rather new (or newer) company that I have just been beginning to see advertise here ~ of course, you guys have probably had them since you were pups!! We are the last to get everything!!

Sometimes, when we're doing takeout, I have my husband get me some riceballs; but they put in peas, and I hate peas. So, I sit there picking out the peas while I'm eating them! :crazytongue:

This is one of the things I love about Super Wal-Marts. No matter where they're located in the United States, they carry the same southern brand line products that we can't get up here in regular grocery stores.

I hate peas too! I've seen other people put peas in their rice balls. Blah. Most places are stingy with the meat and cheese. usually , you will just see them with a big ball of rice, with a tiny bit of ground chuck in the middle.
Not, mine, I put mozzerella cheese, licottela cheese, salami, pepperoni, 2 different types of rice. It's very tasty, and I serve it with a side of sauce.

Yes, Super Walmarts are excellent! Love them. their prices are great! I love shopping at Walmart.

I wish they would put a Super Wal-Mart out here on the Island. We stop at the one going to Mohegan Sun or whatever other area we are in that has one.

There is one I believe on the eastern end of the island in Centereach ? I travel all the way out there to go to that one, because it's bigger then the one we have here on the middle of the island in Farmingdale.
I believe that one is a Super Walmart, there are 2 right by each other. One is in Centereach, and the other one (which is alittle smaller) is in Middle Island , I think.

No, that's not a Super Wal-Mart. It's just a regular big Wal-Mart. There are no Super Wal-Marts anywhere on Long Island. They've been talking about putting one in in Riverhead, but they've been having trouble with the town.

Super Wal-Marts are stores where one whole end of the store is a grocery store with produce section, deli, bakery, meat drawers, etc. There's one in Waterford, CT that we always go in before we catch the ferry back from spending the weekend at Mohegan Sun.

Riverhead's too far for me. The one in Farmingdale is big, but, not big enough to be a Super Walmart.
When we went to Florida they had a Super Walmart, we stayed at my parents condo, so, we went to go stock up on food when we first got there. It was Huge! really nice. Prices were great , too!

We go to the one on Vineland in Kissimmee all the time when we go every January for two weeks. Plus, it's so much cheaper down there than up here.

We drive all over the place when we go out shopping. Sometimes, we go to the South Shore Mall or Roosevelt; but Roosevelt is too rich for my taste. It's a shame that they closed down the "Downtown" over there in Farmingdale.

:scratch:If cats had opposing thumbs they could play guitar and maybe win the Jimmy Page autographed one.... :laughing:I haven't been shopping in two months. I keep throwing up in the store which bothers people for some strange reason :crazytongue:

I don't seem to be enjoying the mall much lately when I go. I used to go to the South shore mall alot years ago, we'd get a cup full of Aunt Annie's pretzels and walk around and browse. I don't even enjoy that too much anymore. I don't know what the mall on Route 110 is called , but they used to have a Warner Bros. store in there years ago. It was huge, and came Christmas time, I could find awesome deals at 75% off. One time I got 12 stuffed animals (nice size too, not small, decent size), of warner bros. characters, one for each month, dressed up for the season. I got all 12 , came as a set, for 9.99!!!!!!!!!! That was unbelievable!
would get character clothing for unbelievable prices too! Miss that store badly! You could always find something cool for someone.

I believe you're talking about the Walt Whitman Mall. It's not very big compared to the other malls now. Across the street there is an excellent Chinese buffet restaurant, not to be compared to what most people think a Chinese buffet is. It's very high-end and not cheap. You just have to be careful with bringing small children. They charge by size not age which may mean paying full price for a small plate of food in the end. In situations like that, we just buy our daughter a Happy Meal or something first, so they can't charge her since she's not eating. We found out about their pricing the hard way. All in all, though, excellent buffet and food.

We do have a Tanger Outlet in Riverhead that you'd probably enjoy more. Alot of people from the city come there to shop. It's right there at the end of the LIE on the Exit 73 ramp. Very easy to get in and out of.

I've been doing almost all of my shopping online now. I search for the sales and look for the deals like free shipping and coupon codes to save even more. I find that I've been making out better online than going to the stores. Not to mention, saving on gas. Although, it does cut down on the extra exercise!

I always do the same thing at South Shore Mall. I go to Aunt Annie's and get a cup of pretzel sticks with cheese to dip them in. Afterwards, we'd go in Old Country Buffet. It's definitely no Golden Corral, but it's okay.

I enter my husband and 18yr old daughter into the sweeks that I think they would like to win. I'm not really into winning tools or a trip to see some rapper but I know that my family would be so excited to win something "out of the blue!". :sunny: For very large prizes that I would love to win, like the HGTV House, I do enter all of us, if my daughter was to win of course I would pay taxes on any prizes.
Happy Sweeping!
