Can I make a suggestion???

Now that we are whining....

my pet peeve is the following:

Folks who don't read.

I saw a post on another sweep site, where someone won a contest for a trip.. and she had to decline it because her father was dying of cancer. She had entered before she found out he was sick and it was the Academy Awards or something that was certain dates and you had to go.

About 50 people wrote "CONGRATS!"

errr... hello????

:crazytongue: Depending on the site, perhaps it wasn't an oversite! We all know there are some mean spirited sites on the net.

Drives me NUTS! Take 2 seconds and READ the WHOLE post. Most people don't write whole books like me

back to topic that I actually started and tangent the thread myself... lol

The reason I think it's good to have somoene here a while and have xxx posts is folks like me who do not know who someone.

Someone comes on, sobs how they NEEDED votes, espeically kids involved, a lot of folks will vote...

and if it's a one per day or one per person, it screws folks on here.

but if they are required, just like OTHER sites, to post XXXX times, it will stop a lot of the problems...

I don't know a lot of you so for folks so it helps folks like me....

except I know Wolfie.. she likes Chocolate Sweepstakes & Giveaways..

and theRedhead.. who doesn't have red hair.... she's just crazy but she's my friend...

Sorry, couldn't resist! :booty"

Given that most members aren't active in the forums, you may want to check their profile. You may be surprised to find that some have been members here for quite some time. As for post counts, they're meaningless. One thing that's nice about this site that's not like one site I know is that they're not overbearing here with too many over-restrictive rules--where the webmaster wants to position himself as ruling over his subjects. Members make the site. I think that people can make their own judgement call on these referrel requests. When you start setting restrictions, that gets into the dictorial area; and that's never a good thing.

I think you guys are great, I love SA, it is about the only one I visit because it is good enough for me and it is all I can handle. It is so well organized and so far everyone has been great! I like the fact that everyone can express their opinions and it is so great reading about everyones wins. As far as posting a win and then not getting to take it....a win is still a win. I recently turned away a trip due to 2 deaths in my family. But I still won and appreciate the acknowledgement, I only posted it to a local fellow sweeper so only one person acknowledged it. I just felt like I had to tell someone. I agree no one should break in on someone else's thunder and take it themselves it is rude and we should discourage it by not voting if that is the case. Some of us are still learning. Best of luck and I look forward to chatting with all of you. :headbang:

wow johnny.. do you go to the main site and search that way? I just get the toolbar. makes it easier to search. I keep the prize wish all the time and just alternate the shinedown and trapt ones. Im thinking about getting the sum 41 one two. My son likes them too.

I just have a handful bookmarked in the Links toolbar that I rotate. Just click on link. Don't even have to type a keyword to search for. Try to pick the ones that I think are lesser known/used. (or just newer)

I've toyed with putting them ALL in a Favorites folder and opening them all at once into separate tabs.

I haven't seen any prizes that are specific to a band, etc., that I'm interested. Prefer the generic prizes so far. Though, one band had a pretty cheap t-shirt (compared to other shirts)

Oh wow, I have two new friends and even got a couple swag bucks from one.... :)

gosweepwin has the right of it - let them ask, we can *choose* to vote or not!

Two more cents to throw in here. I agree that it is uncool of people who do the bulk of their sweeping elsewhere to come here and beg for votes, but if they are following the rules, I don't want to discourage them. Some of these people may eventually realize that they're better off here. Some of these folks will also return votes, which helps our other members. Another thing to consider is that most of the people who visit SA don't talk to us in the Forum. We have members who have been with us for years who don't speak up until they want to share a good win, or less frequently, ask for a vote. I like to think that SA is a welcoming site. So long as people are following the rules, I would support anyone's right to ask for votes. (I might not choose to vote for them, but they can ask).
