Black South African Pepper(s)?

My oldest son's 7th grade class made salsa today. The kids were allowed to bring in any type of peppers they wanted to add to their personal batch. Son said his teacher had a few black, south african peppers that are extremely hot for anyone who could handle it. Said they were crybaby hot :laughing: but delicious.

Now I'm wondering about the name of these peppers. I planned on making salsa this weekend and would like to buy a few of these peppers. Anyone know what they're called? Son said they're sorta fat at the top and get skinnier the longer they get. Medium size in length.

I love Thai peppers, they are wonderful.

Tell your son that those South African peppers are NOT from South Africa. They are from Asia. Most peppers are from Asia that have any real heat.
