Bassmaster phone call?

Tonight I received a phone call from a 866 number. Turn out to be a gentleman who said hes was with Bassmaster. He wantede to verify the phone number on my sweepstakes entry. He said on their last sweepstakes they had a hard time contacting the winners because of bad phone numbers. He wished me luck on the 01/07/14 drawing (the rules say drawing on 12/31/13 with winner contacted within 7 days, then he hung up. He made no attempt to give me any kind of sale pitch just repeated my name and phone number.

In 30 years of sweepstakes I do not remember a call like this before. Did anyone else receive this call. I know a member here won thw bassboat from them before.

hmm odd. But who knows? not like you gave out any info he couldnt have gotten on line anyway. I have not gotten such a call just FYI

I NEVER enter Bassmaster sweeps anymore because they would always call me wanting me to join or buy something from them.

Never got a call from them but I did once receive a call from a sweeps confirming I entered and wishing me good luck. Sadly, I didn't win!

I get a phone call from them every time they run a contest, usually to buy a magazine subscription. I just say no thank you.

I got a call from them last week too! They were also trying to get me to get the magazine subscription.

I don't enter their sweeps anymore because I used to receive way too many phone calls (like dozens).

I just got a phone call recently from them twice asking to update my subscription. It was that 866 number, they called late in the evening 9pmCT and they didn't identify themselves right away. I told them I wasn't interested. They need to clearly identify themselves and what their intent is or leave a message. Nobody likes telemarketers and that's the problem with only using the phone to contact contest entrants. They should update with email and/or facebook/twitter or even snail mail.
