Anyone else notice this?

I haven't had trouble in the past, but I have recently noticed that after people find out or you tell them about your fun hobby of sweepstakes or that you won something big that they look at you like you have a screw loose...anyone else have this happen to you?

I recently won something big and a few people that found out about it have acted really odd and have said things like "you will end up getting scammed" or "that prize isn't THAT big of a deal" (when it really was!) or even just not talk to you anymore/act awkward around you.

For the most part friends and family have been really excited for me when I win and even want me to show them how to get started-which I love to do. It's fun getting people started and showing them my system, referring them to SA, and having someone to call and tell wins about!

I have been blessed lately with some good wins and don't understand the negativity-but I will gladly put up with the negativity and keep on winning!

I think they are just jealous & envious. I've been sweeping since Apr & when I tell "family" I've already won over $700 in prizes they are very nonchalent. Had one member ask me, "What are you doing tomorrow, playing games all day?"
 
Yep they are just jealous, I was told it was a sin to enter sweepstakes. Bet they could not find that in the bible.

As long as the queen is happy, that's all that matters.
 
I broke down and told one set of neighbors. They just said, "Oh. Uh-huh," and kept talking. I even showed them the merchandise I had won. They could have been less interested. I hope I win hubby a plasma. They won't be over for Superbowl I guarantee you that!
 
Jeff - I know exactly what you mean! What is it with people?? When I tell someone about something I've won (my car for instance, when I get compliments on it), and they say, "you won it??". I try to elaborate and they are not interested, or they act like it was some strange sweep/scam. I alway find that I'm defending myself, like saying that they aren't the ones that flash on your screen that I enter, but brand name companies. I think people who aren't familiar with it just really don't understand. If they did they'd be doing it too :laughing:

Oh well, more for us!
 
I stopped telling people a long time ago. Whats the point. They either think you are a half wit who has fallen for some scam(they give you that oh, poor thing look) or they think you are a liar. Whatever. :laughing:

Ditto, or those who see proof start bugging you wanting you to enter for them (yeah right!). Then you have the jealous ones or those who want your prizes that you win just because, you won them for free and they want them. The list goes on, I could really care less what people think about my hobby anymore. At least I am having a great time doing it and have things to show for the time I "waste".
 
I have a group of family members and friends that just love to hear about my wins. They have seen so many prizes and they themselves have benefited (that made them believers). What other folk think don't matter.

As long as they are not entering our odds are better.
 
Many of the people I've told about my hobby are sweeping themselves now :wave:. Of course they are all afraid to post anywhere after I tell them about my experiences on the boards :laughing:
 
I haven’t been sweeping that long, so I have not run into any of these negatives. However, thanks for the heads up – WHEN I win my big trip, I will not be surprised if I get some negativity from friends or family.

I don't tell folks very often. Some folks can see you driving a new car and STILL say it's a scam. Whatever. lol.
 
I keep saying I am going to stop tellin people but I get so excited that I cant keep my mouth shut but now I will most people
just kinda ignore what I said but I love my hobby wish I had found about it earlier but there is no way I could have my laptop, $500 best buy card, blackberry , tons of gift cards.... I Love winning :laughing: :laughing: :laughing: :laughing:

Maybe if people think its a "scam" then they won't enter themselves (more chances for us to win) AND if they ask to borrow anything,(car, money, ect) just tell them "No, I wouldnt want you to get scammed"
 
My sister has been sweeping since the late 1980s. She's never won big :cry:

But she also has learned NOT to talk about it too much. Some people at her work see her doing it. They ask her and after doing it one time, and not winning, they are convinced it's a scam.

She has learned to ignore it.

But what is funny is how often folks who hear about her wins WANT HER TO GIVE THEM SOMETHING..

It's like they won't do it themselves because it's a scam but when they hear she won a half dozen Ipods one years they go "Well win me one next time" Her answer? "I showed you how to do it, you can win your own if you spend some time at it"

It's a nice way to say "Piss off" :laughing:
 
Most people I know love the prizes and think this is one of my better quirks, Online people usually are very interested. I am weird from birth so maybe this coming from me is normal.
 
:sunny: I haven't had many weird looks, but then most of my friends, neighbors and family have all benefited from my hobby. The average person just doesn't have the patience to sit here and do this day after day. WE are a rare breed! Plus we understand each other and know it isn't a scam. Most people that I have told find it very interesting and always say "I never win anything". Well you can't win if you don't play!! :headbang:
 
When my brother introduces me to people , they say "Oh your John's sister that wins everything." My family members are happy for me (mainly because i share my winnings with them, they know they're being hooked up!)
When i sit down to sweep. It's all quiet. then all of a sudden I clap really loud. And i can hear someone say from the other room "What did you win?"

My nieces love it, they get into it.

I believe in sharing, I firmly believe the more you give it gets returned to you two-fold. I firmly believe that.

there are contests that I'm not eligible to play because i don't live in that state. but, i will send someone i know that is eligible a link so they can try their luck. it's up to them if they want to enter or not.
