An observation

Increasingly, I'm noticing sweeps that could have been listed listed in the daily entry category that are instead listed in the Facebook daily entry category. Read the rules for the following sweeps and you'll find 2 entry options - a web entry or a Facebook entry. Here are 4 sweeps and the dates they were listed. There have been others as well, I just didn't save the info on them. In some cases, the web option was the 1st choice in the rules and the Facebook option was listed 2nd. Today's listing of Quicken Loans is an example - the 1st entry option is daily via the web.

When given a choice, why are we selecting the Facebook entry option rather than the daily web entry option? 60% to 70% of the members can't enter Facebook daily entry as that category is only available to Plus members. Sure, they could become Plus members, but many simply can't afford it.

Are we not paying attention and not reading the rules carefully?

I agree the facebook section should only be for the sweeps that require that you be a facebook member. If you can enter without being a member it should be listed in the regular sections. I have been disappointed in the past when I discovered late that it was not really a facebook membership required sweeps or IW.

Well, I know the FB category was created because it was viewed like BLOGS - most hated & didn't want to see them.

Then big sponsors got on board & started running IW's thru FB, and since IW's get put in IW's no matter what category, {Facebook} was noted in the title - mostly :p

Then PLUS, and only PLUS could save FB, so I guess FB flipped from being yuck to yay?

Anyway, I recently listed an IW with both site & FB entry points, and I listed the site link & noted the FB link in the body of the listing.

Few rules will be upfront about the various entry points, so if you find it thru FB, it may not tell you there is a site entry point unless you take the time to fully research the promo

curmudgeon - Of these links, only 1 had a true site entry point & I updated the listing.

Editors work hard to find these promos and list them daily, and as I noted, if they discover a promo thru FB, that's how they will list it - it has nothing to do with the PLUS side of SA.

Under every promo is a link: Report Problem if you see that the rules list a site entry point, and you've followed it to make sure it doesn't just take you back to FB, then please report it and we'll correct the listing, thanks!

Oh yeah, besides rules listing the site entry link, but link converting back to the FB page, most promos with FB entry thru the site still require you LIKE the FB page

Sweeps w/FB entry *and* site entry *usually* require you LIKE the FB page, so listing as FB is correct.

Amy, the links I provided for all of these sweeps do work. My wife and I have used them to enter these sweeps without using a Facebook log in, except for Regions Bank, which we're not entering.

Incidentally, my wife does not have a Facebook account. She couldn't log in or "like" anything on Facebook, nor could she enter a Facebook sweepstakes.

Amy, try this. Log out of Facebook. Now click on the link below. It's the non-Facebook link from the rules for Al fresco. Notice that there is no "like" button and the Facebook log in is empty. Scroll down and complete the entry form. RoboForm will probably complete the Facebook log in fields also, so delete them. Click on submit and it'll accept your entry and give you an acknowledgement of entry.

https://www.facebook.com/alfrescoallnatural/app_973176666029537

Click on the web entry link below for Regions Bank. Once again don't log in to Facebook. Scroll down and click on the orange Enter Now tab. The entry form will appear and there is no "like" button anywhere on the form. There is an area which "hypes" the number of likes received, but it isn't a "like" button. Complete the form and click the submit button. It'll accept your entry and give you an entry acknowledgement (I tried it one time as a test).

Here's another - not listed at SA yet:
Entry page:
https://www.facebook.com/avocadosfrommexico/app_759952690733684

Rules:
HungryForFootballSweepstakeRules

To enter online: Visit Avofan during the Entry Period and complete the official online entry form. - (excerpt from the rules)
To enter via Facebook: Go to the Avocados From Mexico page on Facebook - (excerpt from the rules)

The web entry form - www.avofan.com - uses the Facebook platform but does not have a "like" button - Don't log in to Facebook - complete the form and submit & you'll get an an acknowledgement of entry.

If you want to enter via Facebook, then log in to Facebook and then click "like" button - the "like" button will appear after you log in to Facebook - complete the entry form and submit.

It's a bit strange how this process has been set up, but since it's in the rules I assume that the Promoters and Facebook have signed off on it. Please note that two different sponsors and two promoters (eprize & promotion fulfillment center) are using this procedure. The third, Al fresco, is both sponsor and promoter. All three use the Facebook platform, but set it up as a web entry, so you needn't log in to Facebook or like the sponsor.

If I find any other sweeps with multiple entry options I'll use the report a problem link, and SA can decide where to list 'em.

:)

OK, posting to remind me to come back to this when I have the time to explore, ty!!!

Ah, so the alfresco is the same link - that is probably because of:

Here is a link that I figure if I interpreted it correctly it will mean far more wins for all of us sweepers concerning Facebook... I personally don't enter Facebook sweeps, and this made me so very happy it was like I had won a billion dollar prize lol (almost)...I'm going to clean up my facebook likes right now. SOUNDS TO ME like ''liking'' pages to see the sweepstakes is a thing of the past. :D

"You must not incentivize people to use social plugins or to like a Page. This includes offering rewards, or gating apps or app content based on whether or not a person has liked a Page. It remains acceptable to incentivize people to login to your app, checkin at a place or enter a promotion on your app's Page. To ensure quality connections and help businesses reach the people who matter to them, we want people to like Pages because they want to connect and hear from the business, not because of artificial incentives. We believe this update will benefit people and advertisers alike."

"In addition to the launch of API v2.1, today, we are announcing two changes to our Platform Policies. Developers should update their apps to comply with these policy changes by November 5, 2014 (90 days from today)."

So it's NOT yet universal - 11/5/14 it will be.

OK, I'll start a convo on how to list FB from then on - IMO they should be by entry frequency, but so many SA'ers dislike them & prefer to not see them so FB is where they go.

Amy, these links are NOT the same. They lead to two different Facebook pages. The "web entry" doesn't have the "like" button while the Facebook page does.

Where did Shaw Floors come from? Did I give you that link by mistake? It's one I'm entering elsewhere, but didn't mean to mention here. Yes, the rules do state that you must have a face book account to enter - that's why I didn't use it as an example .

The new one I added is Avocados from Mexico. You can enter it via the web or Facebook. The entry page is different (like button - added or missing) depending on which path you choose.

:)

lol - sweeps are all over the net, sent in email, mentioned on FB - sites that think they have the only listing are lying

As to alternate links, this will take time to suss out, and as I noted, editors have little time and many sweeps to list so until there is a resolution they will continue to be listed in FB

No longer necessary to find an alt entry link - FB can't require you to LIKE any longer:

Now SA will list FB by entry frequency, YAY!!!

As you may or may not be aware Facebook made a big rule change that prevents sweepstakes from requiring or forcing a like in order to enter a sweepstakes. Due to this Certain Facebook hosted sweepstakes can now be categorized by entry frequency.

Example: This sweepstakes does not require you to be logged in or have a Facebook account to enter. We put this in the one entry category based on their rules. https://www.facebook.com/Brueggers/app_533965126739984

*If a sweepstakes does require you to be logged into Facebook to enter this will always be categorized as Facebook sweeps. ( the best way to test this is always be logged off Facebook )

**Under this new format some Facebook sweepstakes could be categorized as daily, weekly, one entry, etc.

Let us know if you have any questions.
