I won movie tickets awhile back...I can't even remember where they were from but they were for the movie Enchanted. Well I didn't make it to that one but on the ticket it said "good for any Touchstone or Disney Film". I looked awhile back and there weren't any really coming out other than Wall-e. The tickets expired yesterday and I really wanted to use them so I decided to chance the potential frustration and take them to my theater. I should note that these tickets were for www.hollywoodmoviemoney.com. According to their policies they should be accepted at any participating theater for any show (including showings that say "no passes"). I showed the tickets to my boyfriend and he noticed the number on the bottom was a routing number like a check. I think the theaters literally bring them to the bank! Anyways I will still prepared that the theater wouldn't know what they were and wouldn't want to accept them for a "no pass" film. I literally printed out documentation from the site showing that it was a participating theater and that they should accept it anytime. I tried to call ahead but couldn't get through to a person (only the showtimes). I walked in fully prepared to be disapointed.
My boyfriend handed the tickets to the cashier and asked if they'd be accepted for Wall-e. She said yes and gave us tickets with no questions or problems. My jaw dropped!
I believe the Subway tickets for Get Smart are from this same site. If you read the rules from Hollywood Movie MOney they will reimburse you if your coupons are turned away from a participating theater (make sure to follow the rules and get the name of the manager/employee who turns them down). If there is no theater within 30 miles of you they will pay for you to see the movie at a non-participating theater (well they will reimburse you). I've never done either of these things but it seems like they have excellent policies, I'm VERY impressed.
