Sponsors/JA's [Judging Agency/Agencies]

curmudgeon posted

There are typically two companies involved in a sweepstakes. The Sponsor (S C Johnson) and the Administrator/Promoter (PrizeLogic). Usually the Sponsor lacks the knowledge of the Federal and various State sweepstakes laws, so they hire a Promoter/Administrator to design the sweepstakes and manage it. The Sponsor provides the prize(S), and the Promoter acts as the Fulfillment Co. that awards and send out the prize(s). PrizeLogic is a Promoter and has been around for years. If you check the rules for the various sweeps you enter, you'll usually find a Promotion Co. listed. ePrize, Don Jagoda, Marden-Kane and Ventura Associates are other Promotion companies that you may find, although there probably are hundreds of them in the US.

This is probably a question of semantics, but for clarification, SA isn't a promoter. It's a sweepstakes listing service. Actually, it far more than that.

Here's an example from the rules of a Progressive Insurance sweepstakes:
"Sponsor: Progressive Casualty Insurance Company, 6300 Wilson Mills Road, Mayfield Village, OH 44143. Administrator: ePrize, LLC, One ePrize Drive, Pleasant Ridge, MI 48069."

The sponsor puts up the prize(s) and the administrator promotes and administers the sweep.

SA is far and away the best of many sweeps listing services. You'll find the sweeps are usually listed here first and then find their way to listing on other sites.

There's really no need to use another listing service.

Sponsors/JA's

Sponsors foot the bill {prizes}, with some sponsors doing their own development, marketing and administration, but, most sponsors will hire JA's :
JA's [Judging Agency/Agencies] to provide the development, marketing and administration of promos {sweepstakes, IW's, & contests} for sponsors.

Re: Sponsors/JA's

If you win and need to do an affy?

Fantastic win! I have had to fill out those forms and what they usually want to know is that you are over 18 (or 21), that you are not affiliated with the sponsor (i.e. you don't work for Sears) and you will need to give them your social security number for the tax documents (the money will be counted as income.) Depending on the contest, you may also have to sign a waiver allowing the sponsor to reveal your name as the winner (on their website or wherever.) If you provide that information to them, you should be good to go!

Congrats and enjoy!!

AND:

Just read everything carefully... and you probably need to get the forms notarized. Your bank should have a notary. And make sure you send things by the date specified. I always make copies for my own records. And then be really, really happy!!!!!! Congrats!

AND:

What a wonderful way to start the year!

Just remember to make a copy of the forms for yourself and send them registered mail or some way that there is a tracking system.

Re: Sponsors/JA's

I had rec'd a total of four coupons for Mini Cakes, was not able to find product in KCMO area. checked with distributor, not distributed here.
posted to Entenmann's facebook page a couple of weeks ago, no answer.

Saw new sweeps today on Facebook, so posted question again. Response was to call Customer Relations at 1-800-984-0989.

rep I spoke to was aware of problem, took my address and is sending me four coupons for any Entenmann's product. :headbang:

So if you were unable to find product in your area, call Customer Relations.

Who you'd contact if a JA/Sponsor(s) fail to fulfill a prize(s)

Sponsors foot the bill {provide prizes}, with some Sponsors doing their own development, marketing and administration, but, most Sponsors will hire JA's :

JA's [Judging Agency/Agencies] [HOST] provide the development, marketing and administration of promos {sweepstakes, IW's, & contests} for Sponsors.

BLOG - where a blog owner is given products/services to do a blog review & giveaway & the BLOG owner is the JA [Judging Agency] that draws winners & who to contact if Sponsors fail to fulfill the prize(s) but the BLOG owner has to get the prize FROM the Sponsors

Sites [such as Fishbowl] are usually JA [provide the "place/site" to get a promo noticed by other than customers/newsletter subscribers & draws winners] & HOST promos for Sponsors

Whereas platforms like Facebook/Woobox/Twitter/etc just provide a platform [ie; HOST] for Sponsors to hold a promo/giveaway the individual Sponsors are the ones who do the prize fulfillment

I've also seen it when multiple Sponsors do a giveaway where parts of the overall prize are fulfilled by the various Sponsors and winners have had to ask for missing prizes from whomever [which Sponsor] ran the promo - ie; the HOST & JA

Most Sponsors will use a JA [Judging Agency/Agencies] and/or a Fulfillment company to run their promo(s), so contacting sponsors is [usually] a waste of time because they rarely are even aware they have a promo
