Nice one! I entered ton's of entries for this one and nada. Just wondering when you sent the 3X5 card did you mail it as a postcard or put it in an envelope?

Incredible win, I'm so excited for you! Despite living in Florida for most of my life I have never seen Miami, but I hear it's gorgeous and a lot of fun!! Congrats :)

So awesome! I was entering that one online every day. How much money do you spend per week or month on stamps to enter contests? Just wondering. I guess I always think I'm wasting money & will have to go buy more stamps all the time. Then again I don't win much, lol. Congratulations on Miami! :)

Hi! You have to be VERY careful to read the rules and understand the requirements of the USPS. 3X5 card by itself is too small to go though the postal system. They must be at LEAST 3.5X5. Also, even if you have 3.5X5 cards don't use them if the sweep asked for 3X5. Over the years I've been able to talk to a few employees of sweepstakes fulfillment companies. Trust me, if they ask for 3X5 paper and you send a card or vise-versa, they'll throw out your entry. If they want a 3X5 card in an envelope and you send a postcard, right in the trash. Eprize, Marden-kane and all the other big time companies know that mail-in entries are NOT what sponsors want to see as it's usually us sweepstake-ers entering that way. So they find any way possible to disqualify mail-ins. Just go by the rules carefully and you'll be okay.

Ah the investment. Yes, I certainly spend a lot on stamps. I probably mail an average of fifty postcards and envelopes a week. Which is a large investment. BUT I'll give you some advice. NEVER pay face value for stamps. If you're willing to work a little (and get a glue stick) you can find "Discount Postage" lots on Ebay. Typically I buy my stamps at 70% of face value. Sure, those aren't Forever Stamps. Typically they're between .13 cents and .44 cent stamps. You just have to do a bit of addition to add several stamps up to the .58 cent first class rate (.60 cents July 1st FYI) The savings really does add up when you send as many as I do! But, the prizes do in fact come too. Patience, persistence and postage are the three Ps of sweepstakes wins, at least for me!!

Miami is AMAZING! We won a weekend trip there this month from Fandiem (Didn't find that on this site so I didn't post it here) and the vibe is so energetic down there! Also, if you ever go, try the Cuban coffee. Prepare for your eyeballs to pop out, trust me!

Congratulations ! I too do the mail in.

Awesome Win, Congratulations!

Congrats to you! I also have always wondered about mail in. I think I've done it a handful of times over the years, but nothing recently. Thank you so much for all of the good advice! Have a great trip!

Thanks for the tip! I only enter about a dozen sweeps a day but I went through and checked and all were online only entries. I guess I always think about the Publishers Clearing House scandal from long ago where all the unopened "no" entry envelopes were found in the dumpster. Why do the sponsors offer the 3x5 cards entry method if they don't like it? Most sweeps are online only. Maybe because of the sweepstakes rules of the sponsor's state?

Hi there. Sorry for the delay in my response. So you've brought up a really great question! "Why do the sponsors offer the 3x5 cards entry method if they don't like it?" Federal law requires any "Sweepstakes" or "Contest" that has an entry requiring a purchase to provide an "Alternative method of entry which doesn't require a purchase.
From a law firm catering to businesses running a sweepstakes:

"Provide free alternate means of entry if you allow users to enter sweepstakes with a purchase.
Announce the opening and closing dates for entries.
Disclose when and how winners will be selected.
Announce when prizes will be awarded.
Contact all winning entrants.
Follow through with all prizes."

These laws are VERY strictly enforced. If you're bored, search "Dogecoin sweepstakes lawsuit." This was a suit against them for "Burying the amoe sweepstakes" rules where you couldn't really see them. Which is against federal law.
So to make a long story a little less long, these companies don't like the 3X5 card entries, but they HAVE to provide an AMOE.
Good luck!

Interesting. I never purchase anything when I enter online, so it's technically free. I wonder if sweepstakes are phasing out the mail-in alternative when the alternative could be just an online entry. None of the ones I'm entering right now include mail-in as a method, and some even say Internet is required. Maybe it depends on state rules from where the sweeps originates? Anyway, very interesting discussion and thanks again for the insight!
