Trip Travel Experience

What's your experience when it comes to trip travel arrangements?

Please share your experience about working with sponsors when a sweepstakes win has included airfare and hotel as part of the prize.

I have recently won my first trip and would like to know your experience with regard to flight and hotel selection.

It seems like a grey area....do you pick the Ritz or Hampton Inn, LOL!

Do you research and make a suggestion to see if they will approve where you would like to stay or wait until they talk to their partners and tell you the hotel?

Airfare seems easier with flights booked with city pair closed to you.

I'm sure you get to pick which flights would be best...nonstop? Yes, please. :) First class? Pretty please? Probably not. @@ One can dream.

I have been told we will be planning together and would like advice as to what to suggest.

I asked if we have a budget to work with based on ARV...any other tips?

Thanks!

I've won several trips, one was to the Playboy Mansion back in 2011. All of the airline tickets were for coach.

However, it really depends on what the prize actually is for your particular sweeps win - btw, congrats! It
should state in the rules exactly what the prize is. Generally they'll give you a limit on the amount that they
will provide for the airline tickets, but as far as the hotel goes it's usually either specified or less often there's
also a limit on that.

What sweeps did you win and have you read the prize description in the rules? And if you don't mind posting
which sweeps you win, we'd be better able to help you once we see the kind of language they use to lay out
the prize.

I won the Bodyarmor Final Four sweeps...

ARV is 4900. includes tickets to championships, flights, hotel and a gift card.

It's hard to know how much to allocate for each, and totally up to sponsor.

I just wanted to ask for advice as to hotel selection so I can have the best trip possible.

I don't want to be greedy, yet don't want to end up in a yuck property if you know what I mean!

Since you asked, here are the specifics:

Grand Prize: One (1) Grand Prize is available. The Grand Prize consists of a flyaway trip for the winner and one (1) guest to attend a future NCAA® Championship Prize includes: two (2) All-Session tickets to the winner’s choice of a future NCAA Championship game; round-trip coach airfare for Winner and one guest from major airport closest to Winner’s residence; three night hotel accommodation, one room – double occupancy; (1) $500 American Express gift card. Choice of game is subject to availability. Winner must select the game they would like to attend by July 1, 2019. Prize does not include any meals, gratuities, travel or other expenses not described above. Winner and guest must possess and provide valid travel documents, and must travel together on the same itinerary. Total Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”) of Grand Prize is $4,900. Total ARV of all prizes is $4,900.

Thanks!

Okay, thanks, I was working out and watching the Masters - lol.

Your air travel is specified as coach - if you want to upgrade to first class, you will either need frequent flyer points to upgrade the coach ticket to first class or pay for it yourself if you really want it. I personally wouldn't pay cash for that, after all, you're going to need to declare your win on your IRS 1040 form and you'll need to pay taxes on your win - save your cash! However, since you don't know how much those 2 'all session' tix will go for nor did they specify a hotel, I would definitely try to book as good a hotel as you can but don't abuse their generosity and they will bend over backward to accomodate you - at least that's been my experience.

Now, as far as a hotel goes, do your research. The rules stipulate that you have "the winner’s choice of a future NCAA Championship game" - while you must choose the game by July 1st of this year, that implies you have a choice of a game OTHER than in 2020. Here's the sites for 2020 and beyond:

April 4/6, 2020 Georgia Institute of Technology Atlanta, GA Mercedes-Benz Stadium
April 3/5, 2021 Horizon League, IUPUI Indianapolis, IN Lucas Oil Stadium
April 2/4, 2022 Tulane University New Orleans, LA Mercedes-Benz Superdome
April 1/3, 2023 Rice University, University of Houston, Houston Baptist University, Texas Southern University Houston, TX NRG Stadium
April 6/8, 2024 Arizona State University Phoenix, AZ State Farm Stadium
April 5/7, 2025 University of Texas at San Antonio, University of the Incarnate Word San Antonio, TX Alamodome
April 4/6, 2026 Horizon League, IUPUI Indianapolis, IN Lucas Oil Stadium

Personally, I'd ask for 2022 because New Orleans is a heckuva party town, with fantastic food and good weather - I lived near there for 10 years back in the 70s.

But you choose - so research the hotels available NOW and if you want to go next year then make your decision about the hotel as soon as reasonably possible so that the Bodyarmour people can lock in a reservation. You should come up with at least 3 hotels and rank them in order of what you'd like and let them choose - that way you're not being greedy, assuming you're not trying for a 5 star hotel. If you're choosing something other than 2020, take your time. Have fun with it.

Great win - I entered this one myself, too!

p.s. Btw, consider a hotel near the stadium where the game will be held - it will make getting around a LOT easier and will cut down on your costs for a car, taxi, or whatever to get around. If the stadium is some distance away then try to get a hotel in the downtown area where all the restaurants and bars and fun are. :-)

Thanks! I should have specified that I already selected the 2020 Final Four. I only could pick from a list of 5 games, 4 this year and the Final Four.

It's Atlanta 2020 Final Four that I am getting ready for.

I ha etcve actually been blessed to win 2 trips. One to Disney World and one to Austin. Both times the company picked the flights , hotel etc. but they did usually ask my preferences about time of flights . The hotel was selected by them Atlanta .... I have heard its a beautiful city . enjoy ;-)

Thank you :)

It's hard to wait for a trip one year from now, but we have started the countdown.

There is a new Hard Rock being built in Atlanta opening near the Mercedes Stadium 2/20!

My ultimate dream is Hawaii, but this will be awesome, I am sure!

Good Luck Everyone...hoping your travel dreams come true.

I won a trip to St Petersburg a year ago, in 2018, the World cup, it was amazing. The hotel was great, the city was beautiful.
