Complaints about prizes

I've been a member of this site for almost 10 years and have never felt the urge to vent, until now. Lately, I've been seeing some winning posts where people are complaining about the prize they won. WHY? If you don't like the prizes that are offered, don't enter! If you win something you don't want, donate it to charity or just toss it in the trash. Entering sweeps should be a hobby that we enjoy. If complaints are necessary, find a different hobby!! I'll get off the soapbox now. Thanks for reading.

Just straight up whining, no qualifiers like "I entered for prize x & won useless {to me} prize z? Or, it was for a trip & "I wanted to win this, but life has decided I can't avail myself of this win due to illness/work/etc?"

If yes, perhaps it's part of the learning curve - where new sweepers get caught up in entering any & everything that sounds remotely good, then they get a useless {to them} win and become more conservative in their enthusiasm

I'd be happy to win a candy bar, but I would be irritated to "win" a dollars off coupon. I wouldn't enter if I knew that was the prize. I don't see the harm in whining, griping, and complaining though. Especially this time of year. The weather is miserable for most of us, wins are few and far between, and I think it helps let off a little steam to complain that your big win of the month was 50 cents off a roll of toilet paper, or a bacon scented alarm clock, or a music download that you can't possibly use.

bacon scented alarm clock - and just how would you sleep with the mouth watering smell of bacon in the air? :p

Hey, I won one of those, but don't have a smartphone so I gave it to my son - he hasn't used it and I'm thinking Ebay - they get $30-$40 for it there. Some wins you just have to try to sell - like the $600 motocross helmet I won that I have no use for. Prizes were different every day and I goofed and accidentally entered that day and ended up winning - stopping me from entering for the prize I was hoping for. The helmet is worth far more.....

lol - $30-$40 for Bacon, Bacon, BACON!!! Works for me!!!

I can't recall a "won on the wrong day" win, but I figure I must have because I always check the prizes {for Daily Weekly Monthly {EP} {DP} {WP} {MP} Prizes} and create my own listing with just the day(s) that have prize(s) I really want to win. Sometimes I'll only enter 1 or 2x's on a 30+ DP sweeps & have yet to win.

I was just telling {OK, retelling, lol!} DH about a Coors? (beer} sweeps I entered years ago with a ton of lower tier prizes & 10-15 Trip GP's & instead of winning the soccer ball like everyone else, I won the prepaid VISA for $200 or $500!

The way I pick sweeps to enter nowadays, I would have passed this one up!

I think I would just dream about breakfast, not wake up. But I don't have a smartphone, and I don't enter for things that I would only sell. Though I wouldn't have thought you could sell that on ebay for anything. Now I'm hungry, I wonder if I have any bacon in the freezer?
