My husband won one of the $1,000 from the Butterfinger Unlock game. We received the paperwork, filled it out & sent it back in time. Today we received a certified letter stating they made a mistake & we would not be receiving the $1,000. Has anyone ever had this happen? This really stinks.

That's lame, did they say what the mistake was? I would threaten them with bad publicity, might get you something.
 
I have had eight false wins in the 13 years that I have been online sweeping. They all have disclaimers in the rules to protect themselves from any kind of errors that can arise during a sweepstakes. Given that these are all computer-generated, there isn't anything to make them 100% foolproof. So, these things do happen from time to time.

My rules of thumb is "you haven't won anything until it is actually in your hands".

Unfortunately, this is just one of the pitfalls of being a sweeper. :cry:
 
I know I've been waiting on one from redbook for $500. this was one from I think June and I didn't even know I'd won until they contacted me. they said at that time sorry that it took so long and it would be sent in one or two weeks. five weeks later after even emailing them still waiting. no reply from my email either. getting ready to email again to see what happens. right now can really use the $500 dollars.

In that case, someone screwed up or something got screwed up. We're still waiting on a $100 Shell gift card from a Ryan Seacrest sweepstakes since we sent in all the paperwork at the end of July. We have emailed them and called them numerous times from the contact information in the email and even tried emailing the company. So far, no one has responded! That's pretty bad when the person handling the prize won't even respond. :nono: :cussing:
 
I wish I could help you out...the contest sounds really messed up and I hope all that have won receives what they are suppose to!
 
I hope you get some good news. I know they have the disclaimers, but I wish Redbook would at least respond and tell me it was a mistake. yeah I would really, really be disappointed, but at least I would know. I just hope they don't send me a tax form. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get something from them. :cry:
 
OMG I also won the $1,000 and sent in the affidavit.... BUT that is all I have had. I have been in contact with them asking them what I need to do if the prize is sent while I am in the hospital having my surgery which is today nov 18th...they did say the check would be coming UPS....... I think the email also said I was a winner but now I see all of these errors. Oh man this was my only hope and prize win waiting since I have been so ill this yr and barely sweeping. Shoot. :cussing:
