Seeking Information

Ok, I know this isn't giveaways or contests information I'm seeking but really need some help/advice/information

When you were in school, yes you were in school at one time, Did you ever sell stuff for fund raisers?
Well my 2 kids are in sports, band and marching band Their marching band only goes on a trip every 4 years.
So this is the only opportunity my kids have on going.
This trip is going to be almost 1800 miles from home and they're told they need to raise $1300.00 a piece
plus parents have to pay their own ways which I can understand.
Well with over 100 students and their families selling items our area is oversold and being a lower income area no one is buying.
We have no family within 1200 miles to sell to so selling is almost not a option for my kids.
I'm the type of parent that hasn't really let her kids get within their schools distance away.
I love my kids so willing to let them go without me.
But seeking your help on how they could raise the money without selling products?
How can they raise the money?
I need help/information and advice.
Thank you

One possibility is to check with the person in charge of the fund-raising and see how much of the $1,300 actually goes to the school. If you have to sell $1,300 worth of tickets for a product, for example, and the school only gets $650 from the sales, maybe you could have the option of donating the $650 instead. I know it is a lot, plus you have two children, but it may be easier to find a way to cover the actual expense for your children.

Thank you all for the good advice, we have to have in by Friday the deposit which is not refundable and then make payments monthly until feb
What ever they don't raise the parents can pay for out of pocket I believe. Each student must each year raise $400.00 just to be in band by selling and all their fund raisers, then because of the trip this year they have to raise a additional $900.00 The trip only comes along every four years, my daughter is a senior and my son was suppose to be in 8th grade but they promoted him from 7th to 9th so he is a freshman, they play in sports such as cross country which last Saturday they both came in 1st place on the jv team for their school, daughter just got promoted to varsity team this evening and son might be promoted after the race on Saturday, soccer, track, they are in concert band, marching band, they are in all advanced honors class's and take advanced honors class's on line so they are always on the go I wish they would just slow down but they tell me your only a kid once. They have done the donuts and other items its just with so many kids selling and their families helping there's nobody wanting to buy. The school does have more things planned to raise money just earning a total of 2,600 for one family on 1 income is hard so I was sort of looking for fund raising ideas. that others haven't really done yet you guys had some great ideas that I liked.
Since they play instruments I thought about playing on the corner to raise money, playing for peoples birthdays like a singing telegram.
I just hate sending my babies out on a 1800 mile trip alone without me I'm such a bad mom aren't I for not wanting them to go alone without me. SoI guess I better start winning some cash cards and money LOL
I enjoy all your help keep them coming good luck to all

:) I totally understand...been there! And you are such a good mom, to have raised two outstanding children. They are doing great and you are supportive. This fund-raising stuff has become a fact of life, unfortunately, and it is harder and harder to achieve the fund-raising goals.

Sounds like you have thought about it and have come up with good ideas, and jaxwinner too. Good luck, hope you get some helpful wins!

My Daughter went to Europe as a senior for her Latin class.... So I know how you feel.... If I were you, I'd call as many mom's as I could.... Get a huge bake sale together, and set up in the local banks, the local grocery stores, even outside wal-mart.... Put a nice big sign on the front of your card table stating that the funds benefit the children..... If I lived in an economically challenged neighborhood... I'd drive, set up in a more affluent area..... Do all that in a big hurry...and get that 400 deposit. Then I'd get with all the mom's again, and start on fund raisers like car washes....some of the stuff said before..... If nothing else, contact some of the people who are better able to afford it and ask if they would like to give a donation for some work done around their house......send the kids to their house, (rake leaves, clean out a garage etc.)...At least we had a couple years so it wasn't such a rush....but I absolutely CANNOT stand all that stuff the kids are suppose to sell....yuk! Good luck and let us know how it turns out.....Debbie
