You can tape as many ducks as you want, but you can't use certain words on this site. The filter has been with us since the beginning, but few people use the words that trigger it. The list of "offensive" words has changed over time, with some words slipping back in and others getting pulled out. We try to be responsive to our members without going nuts about it. Yes, it is a judgment call and not everyone will agree with the verdict. "sux" was removed after several complaints about its use, but we decided that filtering "lmao" was not necessary. And yes, some words like "sux" and "a55" have inoffensive definitions, but they tend to show up more as insults than as straw usage and Mary transport.

You might not like the explanation, but there it is.

To answer your question, a word that is in the filter catches all communication based in the Forum. As far as I know, we can't split out filtering public versus private postings.

well ill say this....it was a very entertaining read. i personally am pro freedom of speech and i have sympathy for ppl who were taught that s.u.c.k and the like are bad words. personally there are worse things to get my panties in a twist over so ill avoid touching this one. -signed, an unrepentant pouty mouth :crazytongue:

gah typos yes i meant potty mouth but pouty fits as well. i think we need someone to translate these "cleaner" code words. any volunteers? p.s. i will not say how many typos i made while typing this post. thank god my boyfriend was watching to point out my errors! :laughing: yes i am female AND i make mistakes
