I received a notification in the mail..please help

I received a notification in the mail that I have won the AT&T how are you Connected" U.S. Olympic Team Sweepstakes, which I did enter. it says, which is the part that does not sound right. Congratulations! We are delighted to inform you that your entry has been selected as a potential Grand Prize winner in the 2008 AT&T "How are You Connected" U.S. Sweepstakes. As long as you are eligible according to the Official Rules and you return your compled paperwork in a timely manner, you have won a: it states the prize which is a trip to the Olympic Games in Beijing China. The paperwork is an affdavit of eligibiliy and release, which requires my SS#, date of birth. What should I do? Is this a fake? Thank you for your help I am very new at this. I appreciate your advise. Also a copy of the official rules were enclosed.

sounds legit to me. Take it to your bank ,they should do it for free, And have it notarized asap . then send it back. How many days did they give you to return it. I would send it fed ex. oh, and woohoo!! congrats. That is standard wording in affy's.. You arent the winner until they get your signed affy back and confirm that you were eligible to win.
 
on almost all affy's it is required to have a ssn# in order to send you a 1099 form and for them to send to the IRS for tax purposes this sounds like a legit win and the contest is one in which you entered, the affidavit is also for them as proof you meet the rules in the sweep. congrats :cheers:
 
I did receive it Fed Ex, and I have until June 10, to return it. there is also a phone number to call if I have any questions. Thank you very much!! :)
 
It also states that I will receive a check in the amount of $8,000, the total ARV is $31,000. I haven't got excited yet, it's to good to be true.

Get excited. Make sure you read everything.. That is an expensive prize so you need to consider the taxes on it. I dont know if the 8,000 is to help with the taxes or not. It might be. Sounds to me like a once in a lifetime trip.

I remember that contest! That's going to be an awesome experience. How often do you get to go to the Olympics (free)! Congrats again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :headbang:
 
It sounds legit. I won 5,000.00 a couple of years ago and they have to have it to send to the IRS because you will have to pay them taxes! The main thing is that it is a contest you entered. Sounds like congrats is in order. Oh, most banks have notaries if you need one.
