Your Odds of Winning a Sweepstakes

So, what are your odds of winning a sweepstakes?  It varies with every sweepstakes you enter.  The more entrants there are, the more people you are competing against and the smaller your chances are of winning.  Likewise, a sweepstakes with a small number of prizes means there will be a limited number of winners.  Statistically, your best chances of winning come from entering less popular sweepstakes with lots of prizes.

Someone in the Forum commented that she has entered Womens Day sweepstakes for years and never won.  Not surprising, since they are very well promoted sweepstakes with very few prizes.  Should you keep entering anyway?  I would.  Your odds of winning may be low, but your chance of being that lucky winner is just as good as the next person's chance of winning.  Not entering at all guarantees you won't win!

Several Forum notices indicate that two of the “hot” sweepstakes right now are Uniball and Office Depot.  Both sponsors are running Instant Win Sweepstakes and have lots of prizes up for grabs.  With the Uniball site, you need a code, but the site will send you three for free each day.  You can then all three entries each day to increase your odds of winning a prize.

It can be frustrating when you go through dry spells.  Look for sweepstakes with lots of chances to win to better your chances of being in the Winners Circle.  And keep entering those popular sweepstakes with big prizes.  Winning always comes down to luck, so go ahead – put your name in the sweepstakes drawing, and keep those fingers crossed!
