Sweepstakes Safety Reminders

The internet is a wonderful thing, but like any tool, you need to treat it with respect.  To start with, protect your computer.  Make sure you are operating with a firewall and anti-virus programs.  Remember to run these programs on a regular basis to keep your computer clean.  Not only do you want your computer to perform its best, you want to keep unwanted intruders away from your personal information.

Be smart about your password choices.  Don't make it easy for hackers to get your information.

Most people you will meet in the sweepstakes community are fantastic folks, just like you.  However, every community has its unsavory members.  If anyone asks for too much personal information, be on alert.  Also, do not fall for hard luck cases that ask you to send money.  We all have difficult times and we can talk about them and support each other.  However, there are unscrupulous people who try to take advantage of us because we sweepers are kindhearted people.  Offer advice, not cash.

Personally, I am always careful about how much information I post in public forums.  I never post the names of my family members.  I like chatting, but I withhold enough information that I will never have an unwanted visitor show up on my doorstep.

One of the best protections available at SweepAdvantage and SweepstakesPlus is our Moderators.  They are there to help the members enter sweepstakes in a safe and fun environment.  Sometimes winning means taking home a prize.   We are all winners when we look out for ourselves and our fellow sweepers by making smart sweepstakes choices.
