Did He Really Win a BMW from a Sweepstakes?

What hit many people today is an email from Curling1, a new Sweepstakes Advantagesweepstakes member who posted in the Winner’s Circle about his alleged win from a sweepstakes that he could barely remember the name. According to Curling1, he had seen so many emails saying “Congratulations” that he’s finding difficulty believing that he really won in any of them.

Then on November 1, 2011, here comes this email about a BMW X6 sweepstakes win saying that the sweepstakes ended last October 23, 2011. The form looked like a notebook attachment (he probably meant notepad here though). These two reasons gave Curling1 the doubts that this is true. However, of course, who wouldn’t want to win a BMW, right? So our Sweepstakes Advantage member is holding on to his dreams, wishing that the email is true and that the sweepstakes win was really meant for him.

Beware of Fake Sweepstakes Emails

sweepstakesOf course, you’re already aware of spam emails that horribly populate your inboxes. You may also be aware of hackers, or those who log on to accounts that don’t belong to them. If you receive an email that contains an unusual link, DON’T click it. DON’T try to open it unless you are sure that it is safe.

What you can do is to go to your favorite search engine and then type in the website inside the search box. That doesn’t mean you will go directly to the site, but at least you’ll get an idea of what it is and if it is legit. Try to look for feedbacks about that URL. Read on to find out, but don’t dare click on that website yet.

Making Sure your Sweepstakes is Real

There really is no other way to find out if your sweepstakes win is real but to search about it. Does your email have an email address you can reply back to? Does the said sweepstakes have a name? You gotta be sure before you click on any link, so research, research and research first!
