Sweepswise, we are in a Harry Potter lull at the moment. There are still plenty of Harry Potter sweeps running, but “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, part 1” is already out on video and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, part 2” isn't in the theatres yet. It definitely says something about the strength of the franchise that there are still over a dozen sweeps running that aren't tied into a specific movie release promotion.
One of the other movie sweeps that seems to be in high gear right now (pun intended) is “Fast Five”. First they were Furious, then they were Faster, and I suppose Furiouser, now they are up to Five installments. I know these are all action flicks with a lot of driving stunts and some sort of plot to justify it all. Personally, I'd be happy to leave the car in neutral and just listen to Vin Diesel speak. Love that voice! Vin himself is not up for grabs, alas, but there are plenty of movie tie-in sweepstakes if you're interested in “Fast Five” merchandise.
It has also been a pleasant surprise to see that there is still a lot of interest in “The Kids in the Hall”. If you already like them, or missed them the first time around, a number of different websites are currently giving away DVD's from the show. Although they didn't stay together as a comedy troupe, many of the players will looks familiar to you. I'm looking at you, Dave Foley.
