Gripes About Contests

Some things just get under my skin.  The main one being the email notification that you get when you don't win contests.  Why would a sponsor bother to send you this type of email?  Honestly it makes me NOT like them.  I do not want to be reminded that I didn't win any of the contests that I have entered day after day.  It's sad enough to open my email account and not get winning notifications about contests, but a losing notification?  Makes no sense to me. There is enough junk to sift through without getting that type of depressing notification.

I would rather not get notifications that I have entered contests either.  Those don't bother me quite as bad, but as an avid sweeper, I make sure I get a confirmation screen when entering contests so I don't need an email stating that I entered it you know?  It's just more junk that I have to delete.  Since I look at my emails closely to make sure I don't miss a winning notification, I would rather not have to sift through confirmation emails.  This is just a waste of my time.

Then there are those emails that you get just because you entered contests.  You know, the spam they send you?  It's a frustrating business this hobby of mine.  Many of the contests you enter make you subscribe to their newsletter in order to enter their contests.  That wouldn't be so bad if those sponsors wouldn't sell your email information to other companies which in turn gets you even more junk mail.  It's an endless cycle!  One idea to stop getting so many emails would be to get a new email account every few months or so.  Just make sure you check those old accounts just in case you get a winning notification about some contests that you entered months before.
