It hit me last night after I wrote that blog post about Contests That You Want To Win But Hate To Enter, I realized I forgot one major hated type of contest. Those are the contests that use captcha. I understand the concept of captcha and I understand why it is used – they want to make sure that a person is sitting at the computer. I wonder though to they ever look at their distorted images. Some of them are so distorted that the human sitting at the computer can't even tell what it is. Captcha is not used for only contests. It's found on alot of website where you have to register for things. I'm sure you have run into it somewhere.
If you don't put in the correct characters, the computer will let you know. Sometimes you have to re-enter other information as well as the captcha on these contests. One thing I have learned is that there is a little refresh button you can click if you can't read the image. This keeps you from having to re-enter other information that you have already entered. Your time is important isn't it? You do have other contests to enter. I did a little research on captcha and it is actually an acronym for Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart. Now how cool is that?
One of the main contests that I have trouble with captcha on is the Your Lucky Day Car Giveaway. I would love to win a new car and I enter this contest daily because of that, but I tell you I have never had any such problem entering contests as I have on this one. I have to refresh the captcha thingy several times and then sometimes when I think I can read it, I will type it in and it still doesn't work! It is the hardest form ever! Thankfully not many contests are as difficult to enter.
