Sweepstakes Advantage has been listing Canada Contests & Sweepstakes for many years. In 2024 we are going to make a greater effort to bring more of these Canadian born promotions to SA. In the article we'll go over some changes both on and off SA that will be a changing in the way we list Canada allowed sweepstakes.
What is Changing in 2024 with Canada Contests
There are changes to Quebec Contest rules. A person or corporation who wishes to organize a contest in Quebec no longer has to file with the government or pay a fee. They also do not have to file a report after the end of the contest including the name of the winners and their address. This will probably result in an increase in Canada contests in general due to the change in restrictions. There will also likely be an increase in interested contesters from Quebec. This change was put in place on October 27, 2023.
Changes on Sweepstakes Advantage & Plus for Canada Contests
When our editors are working with sweepstakes and Canada contests they pay special close attention to the official rules for each promotion. This results in finding many promotions that allows US participants as well as Canadians. We are already seeing an increase in the last part of 2023 and now continued in 2024. We can only suspect this is in part due to the Quebec contesting rule change.
How to Locate Mixed US and Canada Contests on SA/Plus
For listings that allow both US & Canada contestants you will need to pay attention to the “restrictions” portion of each listing. We will use the word “Canada” in that area of the listing if Canadian participants are allowed. To get a full list of these Canadian allowed listings you have the following option. You must use Sweepstakes Plus Power Search which allows you define “Canada” in the restrictions field. *See the pictured sweepstakes power search form illustration below which results in 262 current Canada allowed listings on Sweepstakes Plus.
How to Locate Canada Contests Only
There are some promotions that we list that allow Canadians only. For those Canada contests we created a special category on Sweepstakes Plus called “Canada”. You can locate this category on the main page of Sweepstakes Plus under “Popular Sweepstakes Categories” or on the new sweepstakes page where we break out individual new sweepstakes by category.
