I have a chance to enter a raffle. I would say the odds of winning a nice prize are 1 in 75. The catch is it cost $ 50.00.I am low income. What would you do ?

With a limited income it would be hard for me to tell you to go for it...I would just hate for you to lose $50.00 knowing how hard it is to come by right now!

The only way I could tell you to do it is if you had a little extra money ~ just don't put yourself in a bind. We had a raffle where the odds were really good here, but the tickets were $100.00 a piece, you also got 2 dinners with that, but when it came down to it I just couldn't do it. I would never advise someone to do something I wouldn't!

I sure am gonna think about it,alot. The drawing isn't til June so I can hold off a while. Thanks for the advice.

:sunny: Alot would depend on the prize in the end. If the cost is 50 and you have til June and really want to get in on the drawing, put a little aside each week or month til then. Better yet give up something that you normally would buy each week in put that money in a jar. From now til June is about 6 weeks so that is a little less than $10 a week. Again the prizes would have to be something I really wanted. Best of Luck to you whatever you decide! Be sure to update us!

That is a little bit of time to raise the money...maybe you can win some, or sell something to pay for it. That would be a little better!

The one they were having here was a really good deal, they were only selling 300 tickets and were giving out some really good prizes also. It was a backwards raffle so the last person left in the pot won the big prize. It would have been really fun! I hope you can somehow raise the money!!

I agree with the others. If you really love the prize and would love the chance, set aside some cash each week/month until you have enough for the ticket. You could also do a for sale list and try to raise the cash for the drawing that way. Whatever you decide I wish you the best of luck.

No, no, no! Course, I don't have the $50. I look at gambling and lotto the same I would lighting the money on fire.

Is it a prize that would improve your life? If so, then it may be worth the chance. How much will the $50 hurt you? If it will make you sacrifice to the point that it hurts, it's not worth it. If you can save your change and cut a few things out, then, it might be worth it.

The question you have to ask yourself is "When I lose, will I hate myself?" Because the odds are still not in your favor. Only spend as much as you are comfortable losing.

Sorry I can't be more help, but I don't know enough about your situation to really help.

Good luck with the decision and, if you go for it, best of luck in the Raffle. :sunny:

We do one every year for hospice where the grand prize is $50,000. I think the odds are 1 in 100. Each ticket is $100, and you can purchase up to 5 tickets. We purchase all 5, and this year we just won back the $500.

All of the prizes are worth more than $50.....I wouldn't be to upset if I lost....after all, it is for a good cause....lighting it on fire..lol....I never so much ever even purchase a lottery ticket...I think if I spread it out like you said I can do it..win or loose..I won't do it again...thanks
