Woman's Day Sweepstakes

Today I went to the HFMUS website to post my entries and when I submitted my entries for the Woman's Day sweepstakes I was then directed to wade through a set of "offers" in order to process my entries. I then contacted HFMUS via the "contact us" link at the bottom of the page and told them that I'm disappointed in them for doing this and if it persists then I will no longer visit the Woman's day website or enter their sweepstakes.
I didn't click all the way through to submit my entries as I gave up on the first one after three such "offers".
Please email them and tell them that you too are not happy with this.
They have a right to make money and I have, in the past, clicked on advertising banners that interested me but to make me view "offers" that I'm not interested in just seems wrong to me.
Thank you for your time and support.

In these economic times, companies are doing whatever they have to do to generate more revenue; and advertising is a big factor.

However, you do not have to click on anything after you submit the initial form. You will be entered regardless of the offers that follow.

Arnold Ziffel - flahback!!! My dad is Hungarian & Zsa Zsa was a hoot!!!

LDS - I didn't see a confirmation until I went through all the ads?

First, it says on the next page after you submit, "While we process your sweeps entry, please consider the free money saving offer below". Considering the offers and such is not mandatory.

Second, if you try to enter again without going through any offers, it will say:

"Sorry

Oops! Each user is allowed a maximum of one entry in a 24-hour period; if you are seeing this message, you have already entered once during this time frame. Please try again tomorrow. Thank you for your interest in Woman's Day giveaways."

TY LDS

I only entered 1 after seeing this comment:

This morning all the woman's day are making me go through at least three pages of ads to submit my entry....Wow!! Don't like that change!

And didn't catch that! I posted your "However, you do not have to click on anything after you submit the initial form. You will be entered regardless of the offers that follow" too :)

It actually is a pain....

Woman's day used to be nice and easy to enter (that's why we enter them).... and i think u do have to click through the ads because at the top it says please wait while we process your entry???

I dunno, it sucks though....

You don't have to click through any of the ads. Once you submit the form, you are most definitely entered! :)

 champ

I agree it stinks - it stinks that this economy is so dang bad :cussing: that they had to do this to continue giving away prizes!!!

But I am very happy they found a way - even though I have yet to ever win from them!!! :crazytongue:

I'm just hoping other sponsors that are hurting don't just stop giving away prizes & find a way too!!! :)

Just a note folks. Please never post email addresses on the forum. This is too much bait for spammers. Thank you!

I am with you on this one Arnold. I specifically logged in to the forum to see if anyone made a comment on what Woman's Day has done. And I also stopped submitting after a couple of the offers. I will contact whomever and voice my opinion on this one and I won't register for anymore contests with Woman's Day unless they remove the offers.

I did win the most wonderful Bio Oil from Woman's Day and take the magazine I will glance through the ads. It's just a little more time. Just my opinion and not meant to harm anyone. :sunny:

ok..see I wasn't the only one wondering about Woman's Day. I assumed the same thing, tougher times so they are getting ad sponsors.

Just watch what you click on, forms of these ads are already filled out!

cathyh - I saw that too - even more reason to not continue unless you are interested in the offer{s} :)

Sorry if I sound like a spoil sport, but the way I see it, Woman's Day doesn't have to have any giveaways at all. The fact that they continue to do so, even if it is a little inconvenient to enter, should be appreciated. I mean, we sound like a bunch of spoiled children who are complaining because our ice cream isn't Chocolate Sweepstakes & Giveaways.

I would like to thank everyone for their opinions on this subject.

lidarkside, I went back and did as you suggested and you are correct in that one doesn't have to click again after the initial submission except for one sweepstakes. I don't remember which one it was but I either entered that one twice in one day or it didn't accept my entry until the second try which I believe to be the case. I went back to try and enter the Woman's Day entries again but it said I was already entered for that day but one sweepstakes went to the old screen where I was thanked for my entry.

Woman's Day does offer some nice prizes and I actually won one of them last summer so I will continue to enter sweepstakes there I just won't click through the "offers".

Good luck to all and happy sweeping!

Arnold

I cant stop laughing at the name ---I have not heard that in decades.. he he he
wow , now I feel really old... thanks for the early a.m. laughs...

No one said we DIDNT appreciate the sweeps, we SAID we just liked the "old" entry method better....

Its great to know that you DO NOT have to click thru all the ads at WD magazine. I appreciate the fact that they continue to offer contests for all of us to enter.
My cousin is an editor and OWNER of over 6 magazines that he started over 20 years ago. I talked to him about the issues i saw discussed in all the posts.
WD magazine remains a standard when you walk into your doctors office, the dentist, the list goes on and on.
I am sure they have suffered a bit from the economic crisis.....but not nearly as much as other small magazines like my cousins. My cousin reports to me that many small magazines, both digital and print....are using contests as a way to boost revenue.
As for WD--I wish they would go back to the old form. It was easier.
