Win That Saved the Day

Have any of you had a win that saved the day? Did you get a check in the mail for $1000 the same day that you got a shut off notice? Did you get an email saying you won a car the day after you got into an accident? Did your year supply of tampons come the same day aunt flo came to visit?
 
Sorta...but it was 2 survey checks.

We were stuck in another state last year and in emotionally and physically unsafe circumstances. Money had been sent to us from back home and we had not received it. We needed it to get us back home and my boys to safety. Hubby has thieving a$$ sisters so we thought they stole it. I needed $150 total besides what we already had. I prayed to God and within the week we were supposed to be leaving I got 2 survey checks that totaled $150. They were totally unexpected and I had not cashed anything out from a survey company in those amounts. Needless to say "I believe" and nobody can tell me any different.
 
hmmm...I don't know if it saved the day, but it saved me from buying. I had been wanting an air purifier, and had been looking for one at Targets the day before when fed ex showed up with one. I thought it was so cool that I had just been about to buy one and won one instead. :laughing:
 
Several wins have helped me in some way or another. I just don't really talk much about how they have helped us. One win for instance would have to be those 2 $50 taco bell checks. They came what, a week and a 1/2 ago or something? Those helped tremendously.
 
My laptop win saved me from fighting for time on the PC with my guys, does that count? :laughing: :crazytongue: :whistle:

Seriously - 3 people + 1 PC = :cussing: :cry:


The years supply of Brawny paper towels saved me from having to buy some - we had just run out!!! Too bad my mom showed up and snatched half of them!!! :nono: :crazytongue:


My son will ask if I have itunes, and then I'll win them {or trade for them, hiya celticbikerbabe my GREAT trader buddy!!!} soon after - I've TOLD him to ask for BIG $$$ but that hasn't worked - yet :laughing:
 
:cheers: Several years ago hubby left to go to town to buy a new vcr. While he was gone I got on the computer and found out that I had won one. I quickly called him and told him not to bother as one was going to be delivered. :headbang:
 
Won $500 from Polaroid back when I was trying to figure out how to scrape up enough money to get a cat needed surgery (tumor) Its funny because that cat is still alive and Polaroid is out of business :laughing:
 
I just thought of a couple "small wins" that have saved the day.

Recently my son had a birthday party to go to and I didn't have any $$ for a gift. I found a brand new American Idol DVD challenge board game in the closet and gifted that to him (ssshhhh).

Next, this past weekend we were invited over for dinner. Last minute thing, it was for 2 birthdays and we didn't have time to go town for gifts. We give a little $$ to the youngest (13) and my last Rachael Ray platter set to the adult who loves to cook and host get togethers.

My sister gives her bratty inlaw kids only wins she gets. They are very ungrateful and don't ever say thank you, so that's what they get. :laughing:

I had a win that saved our day!! Well, our cooking items, pots and pans, were seriously gross. We needed new cookware very very bad. We also needed a new coffeemaker. But, with 3 kids and my husband staying home so I could work this year, we definitely couldn't squeeze cookware into the budget. My mom was about to get new cookware, and we were going to take her old cookware, which wasn't so nice, but still better than ours. My husband does all of the cooking, and was bummed about his nasty kitchen stuff. Anyway, a few days before my mom was going to bring us her old stuff, I won the $250 overstock, and we used it (had to wait a couple months of course) to get all new cookware, a coffee maker, and even had enough left over for a digital camera!!!!!!
 
all my wins save the day :laughing: The cash and GC's are used to help support the family. buying groceries or gas. The stuff for the kids is for birthdays and christmas. That way we dont have alot of money coming out of pocket for those things.

Well, you know...there is always that glimpse of hope for someone to do something normal. My dog is named after a serial killer (Dexter).

A friend of mine use to have a ton of fishes.. there is only one left and they named him Dexter. He has eaten everyone. lol

The cat is named Princess (isn't EVERY friggin cat a princess!? lol). The foxes are Artie and Natasha....

My old hunting dog (that sleeps with the ducks) is named Rufus. He once growled at me when I went out to the field with my rifle and the ducks were on one of the lakes. sigh.....

And then there is Dharma, a stray that showed up pregnant. SHe had three puppies...

Karma....

Nirvana....

and Ralph.

Don't ask. I did not name them. :nono: :nono:

Undescended Testicle is a great name by the way. I would be cracking up if you were my neighbor and you were calling your cat to come inside.


The Poloroid win is pretty funny too!
 
I have one. I won a 32" HDTV from the Tide It's a Kick Sweepstakes the same day we were going shopping for our son a new tv for his room. His was struck by lightening the week before. Lucky for him, now he has a $1200 tv in his room.... I actually won the tv earlier in the week but had the letter sitting in the junk pile and hubby found it. I think I have told you all this story already........ :wave: :sunny:
