Okay ~ I know that I am not the perfect parent by a long shot, but ya know, I don't think I'm the worst in the world...I love my kids. I don't beat them on a daily basis ~ I feed them ~ I get them everything that they truly need and some of what they want, but why why why does my youngest want to kill me? I think it is a conspiracy between her and her Daddy to see how long it will take to break me ~ I really do...

It started last night ~ I had let Ashelyn go spend the night with her best friend, Alex. What I didn't know is that she decided that she had to take almost every pair of her older shorts with her. So she gets home last night and plays with the dog, and rolls around with the cats ~ me telling her all along to get her stuff ready for school...anyway when she finally gets in she takes a bath and washes her hair to get ready to go to bed and I ask her what she is going to wear to football practice(she is a manager)she looks at me and says that all of her clothes are dirty I need to wash them...WHAT :cussing: It is already 10:00 and she wants me to start washing her practice clothes ~ I don't think so! So I go in her room and find a pair of clean shorts and a shirt for her to wear for today and I show her ~ nope, she doesn't want to wear that one. She all of a sudden knows where a pair are...she comes in bringing a pair that I know are dirty  I told her that there was NO WAY that she was wearing dirty clothes to practice to which she started having a hissy fit... now I am a calm woman but by this time my nerves were starting to wear thin and my eye was starting to twitch :nono: I calmly grab the dirty shorts from her hand and tell her that she will wear the other shorts or she wouldn't go to practice ~ PERIOD!!!

She decided that I meant what I said about that and didn't press that point again last night, but it wasn't five minutes until she came bopping into the living room showing me what she wanted to wear to school this morning...now mind you that just last weekend we just took the child and spent a buttload of money on her for new clothes that are hanging in her closet with the tags still on them and what does she bring to me??? A pair of jeans that has holes in the knees that use to be Caitlyn's... :cussing: :cussing: :cussing: not only are they old (that wouldn't bother me) but, they were dirty (again!)and she can't wear them to school anyway because of the holes...at this point she is taking her life into her own hands and doesn't realize it. Gritting my teeth I tell her to get her butt in bed and that I better not see her again until this morning.

So this morning we get up and she is a freshly awake and brave :nono: First thing she says to me, I can't find those shorts you told me wear last night...oh, no! Girl, you better run! I told her, NO SHORTS, NO PRACTICE ~ NO OTHER WARNINGS~ PERIOD!!! Shorts showed up in 5 seconds

I swear this child is Jimmie made over and I am losing my mind ~ she didn't want to take two dimes and a nickel instead of a quarter this morning??? We didn't have a quarter, sorry... I ended up opening the door and telling her to get her butt on the bus ~ Caitlyn was dying laughing, I have a migraine, and I want a drink...somebody serve me something please!!!

I am a bad bad Mom

 sorry I shouldn't be laughing but I have so been where you are. They do know how to push our buttons. I hate to tell you but it doesn't stop until they get out of your house  I miss my girls dearly but I gota tell you I am glad I am done with those years.

Hope the headache goes away. Oh wait she got on that bus

 sorry about that... kids sure know what buttons to push.. geez.. you are definitely not a bad mom. just remember to take a deep breath and realize she is probably just wanting attention..She sounds alot like my son. just has to be difficult. Im fixin to have my children start doing their own laundry.. I hear all the time, I don't have anything clean! well, If ya wore more than 2 shirts and your favorite pair of pants you would have something.. Mine are the same way, closets filled with clothes with the tags still on them and they want to wear the same thing over and over.

its funny about the dimes and nickels, my daughter did the same thing last year. I had 5 quarters but had to give the rest in dimes for her lunch, she refused to take it.. she didn't eat lunch that day.

sorry about the migraine too. I get them also and it makes not killing the children really difficult. just be happy that they are in school. Mine dont start till Wednesday and then only till 11:30.. I will be doing the happy dance though. Im not looking forward to the homework battles, the music teacher or my daughter bringing home F's but atleast I will have some peace and quiet before they hit the door with all the problems.

 You are not a bad mom. She is just challenging you and you are doing a great job at letting her know who the mom is. I hope you are keeping a diary of all this so that when she calls crying to you about her daughter being a little stinker you can remind her of her own antics!

Don't worry, I'm sure the police reports will do just fine

 Oh boy! Now that is something to look forward to. She'll be driving before you know it. Can't wait to hear those stories!

((((((hugs mom)))))))

I have several of my own horror parenting stories and my oldest will be a teenager before I know it (11 next month)

You are not a bad mom, our kids love to make us feel that way though, don't they?

Is she often resistant to wearing new clothes? Wearing old, or dirty clothing in preferance to new or clean clothes can be a symptom of tactile defensiveness. Its a sensory intergration disorder. Does she have any problems with baths or showers

She was just being hard headed yesterday! She does have a thing with fabrics, I do also ~ always have, but I know what she will and won't (can't wear) and buy accordingly. Everything is washed before hand. We buy mostly cotton stuff, because she can't stand other fabrics. Up until the last couple of years she couldn't wear denim, but has gotten better about it.

She LOVES warms baths ~ especially at night. It sooths her legs ~ they keep her up at night. Yes, I know...I have the same problem there. Doctor won't listen, doesn't believe.

lol. kailey does that!!
The thing that really gets me, is when she takes her new clothes with tags, out of the closet, and puts all her babies (bears, etc) on the floor, then wraps them up with her new clothes. LIke thats thier beds????

and the other day she took glitter that was sopposed to be for school, and threw it all over our house. We have new carpet. So it took a while to get that up. But hey I look at the bright side of things. At least thier was no glue involved. then I would mad. lol

I have banned glitter from the house ~ and play-doh! Ashelyn can only play with those outside now! Markers are about to make their way to the porch also...I can't spend hours cleaning them up, I will throw them away! I am sick of it!! Another thing that I banned years ago ~ Easter grass!!

yes to all of those... plus chalk, toys that make a loud whining noise, silly putty, anything with a gel like nasty substance floating in it, pencil sharpeners.... somehow it always opens up and spreads little pencil shavings everywhere..and any powdered candy.

yes all those things. silly putty especially. That is so hard to get out of clothes.

I have a friend who has 2 daughters - she said if she'd had the second one first, she would have been an only child.

 Caitlyn was a nightmare when she was little and has grown up to be a really wonderful teenager ~ not perfect, but really wonderful. Ashelyn will have me in the funny farm before she hits high school at this rate :crazytongue:

When I was her age I used to take all my new clothes, turn them inside out, and hide them. My poor Mom

 my youngest went from running around naked, refusing to wear clothes even in the winter, to changing his clothes 4-5 times a day.. Im not kidding. Drives me crazy. I told him he is going to start doing his own laundry if this keeps up.

Fish oil is supposed to help. Seriously, helps with nerve development so they can tolerate different textures of clothing. Of course, you may also end up with a naked kid with fish burps...

That I can tolerate. his burps stink anyway.

Went with Ashelyn to her first football game last night...during the first quarter of the first game one of our players got tackled and got his leg broken. We had to sit and watch the poor kid on the field for an hour while they waited for the ambulance to get there. I don't know what took it so long to get there, but if I were that mother I would have been ready to poke me some eyeballs out. She would have just taken him herself but everytime they tried to move him he was screaming for dear life...it was terrible!

We ended up not getting home until 10:30 last night. Needless to say, Ashelyn's little butt was ready to drop after she got her bath  I'm just glad she didn't have homework!!
