weird phone calls lately...anyone else?

Over the past week I have been receiving a really weird call, each time from a different phone number, always out of the area (my husband keeps telling me not to answer it if I dont recognize the number, but Im sure Im like a lot of you and think "but what if its from a sweeps telling me Ive won?!" so I go against my better judgement and pick up) Anyway, this phone call always goes the same. I pick up and say hello, no answer. I say it two more times, and finally on my third hello, there is a very distant chime sound and a weird distant womans voice that says "good bye" Its kind of creepy sounding actually. So this has happened 4 times now (two of the numbers were just regular long distance numbers, one said it was from the British Virign Islands, and the last one last night just said out of the area) I tried to call one of the long distance numbers back but it just said the number could not be accessed....
Anyway, its not that I think I am missing out on prize, this is obviously some sales or something, but its really irritating because now Im afraid to answer my phone if I dont recognize the number, but dont want to miss that ever elusive "win call" lol Is anyone else getting this same weird call, I am just wondering what I signed up for that captured my number and gave it to these idiots? Any thoughts?
 
:sunny: I haven't received any phone calls like that. I do answer the phone even when I don't recognize the number. There isn't too much they can do to you over a phone line. Just hang up. If they aren't responding after your initial hello, you can bet it's a somebody trying to sells you something call. I wouldn't waste my time calling them back. You obviously have caller I.D. so write the number down and google it or go to www.whocalled.us and see what comes up.
