Weekly Winner in Samsung Women of Steel

I just got an email that said I had won the four door Samsung refrigerator from the Samsung Women of Steel contest. It is one of the 6 weekly prizes. I nominated my mother (listed as Dorothy D on their website) because she is a real woman of steel. The only problem is the 100 character limit was just did not give enough room to tell what an accomplished, self-made woman she really is. She was told she would not live to be 12 years old because she was born cripple from a birth injury. She is now 82 years old and has accomplish a lot. She finished her education after our father left us without support, she was the director of a Health Information Management Department at one of the large hospitals in our area, and then started the Health Information Technology program at our local community college. Starting that program is one of her most treasured accomplishments because it has provided the means that allowed many single mothers a way to support their children. She retired from the college after having her leg amputated, but quickly decided retirement was not for her. She started a medical transcription service which she closed just two years ago, not because of her advancing age (age 80 at the time) but because her vision had become too impaired. I am very proud to call her both my mother and my best friend.
 
Wow!! Your win wasn't the refrigerator but your mother (and I'm sure you were hers). Sounds as if she was a wonderful mother as well as a working woman
 
Thanks for sharing that wonderful story! I'm so happy you were the winner! We recently purchased a foreclosure and gutted and remodeled the entire thing. That Samsung is a fabulous refrigerator! It was my first choice for our new kitchen, but we got a really good deal if we went all Kitchen Aid, so we did. You will love that fridge! So happy you still get to enjoy time with your mom!
