We WON and still LOST our Cruise on the Danube

We WON and still LOST. The contest for a free cruise on the Danube has ended and the sponsors (Brand G Travel at https://www.facebook.com/brandgvacations) have announced their winner. It wasn't us.

We certainly won the voting handily (219 to 176, not including another 11 or so write-ins on our behalf). But even though Brand G said they couldn't decide between the finalists, changed the rules in midstream and asked the public to vote, in the end, they chose to base their decision on something other than voting. Yes, we feel a bit like Al Gore right now. ;-)

But one way or another, we're determined to get to the Danube and Prague. And we still had a fabulous 30th Anniversary! To all of our friends, family, SA folks and other supporters in this contest, we were deeply moved by the outpouring of support and votes. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

I wondered when I saw nothing in the rules about voting - looks like there was a schism with the judges so they tacked on the voting and they turned against you in favor of the underdog to me. :nono:

IMHO, this makes the sponsor look VERY unprofessional.

Since I'm not gay, they wouldn't be getting me as a customer anyway you slice it, but if any of my gay friends bring up this subject, I will tell them of your {bad} treatment in this contest! :love:
 
Thanks Amy. I'm really surprised at the outcome. I had never heard of Brand G Travel before, but before entering, I checked them out. They are owned by Mark Travel, which also owns Sandals, Beaches, Funjet Vacations, Showtime Tours, Southwest Vacations and other very reputable travel businesses, so I am very surprised that they bungled this one so badly.

Oh well. I'm sure Jim and I will get to cruise the Danube and visit Prague at some point. Prague is on our bucket list. :-)

Sorry to hear that! That bites! Especially after all the heart & soul you put into getting all those votes! Makes you wonder why we enter these darn voting sweeps! Although you didn't know that in the beginning on yours. Hope one day you get there! Best wishes!
 
:error: That just isn't right no matter how you look at it! I just posted on their FB page and would encourage others to also voice their opinions on the unfairness of their contest. So sorry you didn't win this time, but have a feeling another great trip will find it's way to you!
