I am on a crockpot craze lately. It has saved my sanity while I have been sick and really helped with fixing the kids and Jimmie something to eat that is good and easy.

I have several 'tried and true' recipes that we use all the time, but do you guys have any that you use that you can share? I will share one that Jimmie actually threw together the other night that came out better than I could have ever had imagined. We have made it about 5 or 6 times since then.

Get a large package of skinless and boneless chicken breasts.

2 small cans Cream of Mushroom Soup

2 small cans Cream of Celery Soup

use about 1/2 can of water if chicken is frozen to add moisture.

Mix all cans of soup and water ~ place chicken breast in crockpot ~ salt and pepper to taste (we use a lot of pepper ~lol) and cover with soup mixture.

Cook on low overnight.

This is so good with mashed potatoes.

Now pull me out some crockpot recipes please! I need them. I am trying out a mac and cheese one and will let you know how that turns out in about 6 hours

I just throw everything in the crockpot but the kitchen sink. I have a cookbook with recipes but I usually just throw some meat and vegatables and seasonings and water together.

Get that recipe book out and find me some good comfort food! I need it ~ lol!

Another thing that we fix in the crockpot all the time is turkey breast.

Turn the Turkey Breast upside down and salt and pepper really well. Put one stick of butter in it little crevice and cook overnight on high. Turns out so moist and juicy. I will never fix another one in the stove. We just love these like this.

Here's a recipe I posted in another thread to Cin and Dark.... It is soooo good Pingggg........ Beef Stew

2 lbs. of stew meat
2 onions (diced)
4 carrots (sliced)
3 potatoes (diced)
1 stalk of celery (about 7 sticks chopped)
1 1/2 cup of beef broth
1/2 cup of flour
1 tea of pepper
1 1/2 tea of salt
1 tea of worchire sauce (sp???)
1 tea of paprika
1 bay leaf

*spread meat on the bottom of crockpot
*mix flour, salt, pepper --pour flour mix over meat, stir well
*add remaining ingrediants, mix well, cover and cook on low for 10 hours or on high for 6 hours

I was just going to say Champ had a good recipe. :)

I have the recipe book that came with the crockpot so what are you interested in? You can do meatloaf chili or roasts or chicken.

One here sounds similar to what Jimmie did.
Sunday Chicken
3 and a half pound chicken cut up
paprika salt and pepper
1 10 oz. can condensed cream of celery
1 half cup white wine or chicken broth

Another one we like is:

Put a whole chicken (clean & seasoned) in the crockpot. Dice up a Green Apple and Onions. Stuff them inside the chicken and pour a half of can of coke over the chicken. Cover and cook for 8 hours. Goes good with red potateos or pasta salad.

BBQ Ribs:

Pork or Beef, Season Well, Pour BBQ sauce on meat, cover & cook for 8 hours. or high for 4 hours. Soo yummy and tender.

Does anyone have a good recipe for fixing pinto beans in the crockpot? I know it can be done...but how ~ lol...

I remember that one now...I probably should have dug up that thread, but I am to lazy to go back and hunt for it...so I just made another one. We will go over these again class...lol!

Any time I cook any type of beans all I do is put them in the pot and let them cook. If there is some trick I don't know of it.

But what do you add for seasoning? Ham or what?

I use smoked sausage and whatever seasoning you want. I just use sea salt and pepper and herbs. You can use ham if you like.

:tongue2: :tongue2: Okay ~ that didn't work

Put a roast in the crock pot last night...that is more like it

I have two huge crock pots, one regular crock pot, and one small one now ~ lol. I can crock anything :crazytongue:

 OK I forgot to tell you that you can add onions to beans to give them more flavor. I added smoked sausage to my beans and will eat them today.

Do you let them sit in water over night?

I don't but I know some people do. I rinse the beans cover them with water and bring them to a boil. Then I throw out that water and cover the beans again add onions seasonings and depending on the meat add it then or add the meat later. I guess I change out the water because that's how my mom always did it. Maybe it helped the navy beans to look whiter. Another thing I do is smash the beans. I guess we just like them that way.

We have things we like done differently also...that is the fun thing about family!

I really dread going back to the doctor Monday afternoon though ~ I bet I have gained 10 lbs this week. I know it is those steroids that I took but I have been about to eat the couch and chairs. The other two rounds of steroids were shots and didn't effect me this way, but this was the pills and what a difference! I have been on a fruit kick though ~ thank goodness I had a lot in the house...they had just gotten in clementine oranges at the grocery store and I couldn't stay out of them either...

Maybe you're craving vitamin c and of course food

My potassium is messed up. I was taking one pill a day and they upped it to four. My whole system is out of whack right now. It has been crazy. I really feel like I could eat anything and then drink a 24 pack of pop or water to go with it. I can't get over being thirsty either no matter what I drink... it is driving me nuts!
