W-9 Qestion

I'm still not sure if it's legit but I got an email saying that I won a nice prize and need to fill out a W-9. I know that in the US we have to pay taxes on winnings. The person who contacted me attached the W-9 for me to fill out and return via email. I have been emailing back and forth with them because I'm not entirely comfortable and want to make sure it's not a scam They did send me a phone number and I will call them tomorrow but - would love to hear what is usual in these circumstances. Your thoughts??

If they gave you their name and company they are with, you can check their website and make sure they are legitimate. When I won a big prize thats what I did. Congrats!
