I haven't won anything big (as in, more than coupons for free food products or branded t-shirts) in quite some time (years!) so I was excited when I found out in January that I was a winner in the recent Cayman Jack twist on tradition (or something like that) sweepstakes. Then after getting stuff notarized and sending in a copy of my license (to prove I was over 21) I sat around for nearly six months before the prize arrived while kind of worrying that perhaps I had been scammed. Thankfully it arrived recently so I don't have to worry that I was scammed, but what came was really disappointing. It was supposed to be an assortment of glasses, copper mugs, an ice bucket, and an assortment of bar tools. I was most excited about the glasses and bar tools and looking forward to seeing what variety was included. Unfortunately, the glasses were such thin material that we won't be able to use them. My daughter was commenting on how thin they were and went to rub her finger over the top of one and glass shards broke off and sliced her fingertip open. Yikes! She wasn't being rough at all, they were just shoddy quality (and had been wrapped REALLY well so I don't think it was a shipping issue). I'm not planning on swallowing glass anytime soon so the other ones will likely follow the first into the trash. The part that I was most looking forward to were the bar tending tools, which didn't arrive. Instead I received what is probably supposed to be a case for tools, but no tools were included. I know that this is a prize that is basically free (minus the small notary fee) but it was supposed to be a $450 prize and I basically got an ice bucket out of it. Just makes me feel cranky/bitter about it when it should have been something exciting. (Yeah, yeah, I know that's ungrateful, but this is the place to vent about this stuff).
