UPrinting.com Custom Greeting Cards: A Question

OK. Now, I realize sponsors like to get the word out, and that they do the blog giveaways in "bunches." But there are A LOT of the UPrinting.com ones up today. I've personally run across 38 in the last 24 hours. And those are just the ones I've found. Doesn't that seem like an awful lot? Are there that many people out there that actually want this? I'm just curious to see what you all think about this. Thanks!

I just found 5 more; so, 43.

I've found out that not all that appears is reality.

When I see a huge new "set" of listings I always:

  • [li]ask myself if I've ever really heard of the sponsor before?[/li]
[li]do a search in the forum to see if anybody claims to have won anything from them?[/li]
[li]if they claim they've won, has anybody shown a screen shot of anything?[/li]
    [li]ask a Mod if they've heard anything for real.[/li]
[li]believe only 10% of what is posted and only 50% of what I see![/li]

After being a member here for 3 years, I seen lots of those "bulk giveaways" AND nobody ever seems to win any of them. They just come and go.
How many times have I seen a winner of an "autographed guitar"? None that I ever remember seeing ... Yet there are 20-30 new ones a week being listed... which means we should be showing 3-4 winners a week from members here. Or how about all those computer giveaways??? Everybody here should be the proud owner of one! :crazytongue: I've heard of one or two, but have never seen a picture of one with it's proud owner. Or one of the latest "----- ----- Vacation win $250 discount" things .... I never expect to see a winner. (anybody smell timeshare??)

I'm not saying that this or that isn't real ... but I usually don't have the time to waste entering questionable sweeps 30 times ... for a 30cent - $2.00 prize and a good chance of my email addy being sold.

I'm a hopeless sceptic LOL

Just my 20 cents worth :crazytongue:

Googled them, legit company (it seems) without too many complaints against them. And the package being given away is listed at $96 for 250 Custom Greeting cards (who needs that many?) I won't enter any myself but can't understand why so many? I just find it weird, is all. It seems excessive.

Hello,

My name is Sam and I'm the marketing manager in charge of the giveaways for UPrinting.com. I'd love to explain our giveaways and why we do them.

1) Before I was a marketer, I was a blogger. I know that a blogger's voice means a lot. I have no problem giving a product to a blogger and having them broadcast what they think. Especially if I have a good product. Give it away. The word of mouth marketing is better than anything out there if you have a good product.

2) Why so many giveaways? We like bloggers and a LOT of bloggers like us. If you have a real blog with real readers, we're interested in offering you a product review or giveaway. Google "Blog Sponsor" and you'll find this somewhere on the first page http://www.uprinting.com/blog-sponsor-program/ <-- its our sponsorship application form

3) Why 250? Its our minimum quantity for Offset printing (the best color quality). They are great for your small business. That's why 250.

4) Do people receive prizes? Why not ask the bloggers themselves? Why not search @uprinting on twitter? You'll see that our prizes are awarded and we have a full time team dedicated to helping bloggers get those prizes to their readers.

5) We are legit and will provide references from bloggers if you want. =D

If you have any questions, please contact us via twitter @uprinting.

Thanks!

Sam

 I understand the power of advertising with bloggers; it's a huge community & they really get the word out on products. And I've won quite a few things from blogs & have received the vast majority of my wins in a timely manner, some within a week of the end of the contest. So the legitimacy of UPrinting.com wasn't really the question. It's just that with the cards alone(never mind the posters & banners) the ARV of the 45 I found(I know I must have missed some) is more than $4000. It may very well be a good investment of PR dollars; it's just struck me as outside the norm for blog giveaways, is all.
And if anyone is interested, the ones I found are listed here:
