I had posted about winning the nascar trip but forfeiting it because of the corona virus. Today i received an email stating that since the race was canceled i am being awarded the grand prize after all, they are sending me the cash value of the prize.

I pestered them when you posted on their Facebook page and was completely dumbfounded that they wouldn't simply give you the cash value. I had been
hoping that they would change their mind and they did - and to that poster who ridiculed you for seeking an alternate prize, hey, they were wrong.
If you don't mind me asking, what was the cash value? Years ago I won a First Alert Chicago trip but couldn't go because my brother was in the hospital and
without me even asking for anything they sent me a check for $4,000.
To everyone - it never hurts to ask even if you don't get.
That is wonderful! I'd rather have the cash than the travel any day. I'm glad they stepped up and did this for you.
Oh yes!! Good for you! I'm glad to hear that. Half the time if they offer cash value you can get a better trip (or at least trip most appropriate to your personality) that you design yourself for the same amount. A few years ago i won a trip to L.A. that included a stay at a fancy schmanzy hotel (the Mondrian) that was weird and awful and required a $900 incidental hold on my credit card at checkin. I'd have much rather taken that $1500 (it was a $500 night room) and stayed in a smaller chiller hotel for longer. this worked out in your favor! Congratulations!
