Unwanted Magazine Subscriptions

:cussing: Today I received my third unsolicited magazine subscription. I know I'm being really careful to check the correct boxes, and it is a pain to cancel these things. Is anyone else having problems?

 Or that most people are still at work!

Sometimes you have to be very careful. I think 95% of us have missed one subscription form or another. If you are using Robo, make sure it didn't fill out a form that is on the page. If you click fill and submit, you may be filling out the subscription form and submitting it without even knowing it.

I am extremely careful and have still made the mistake! Fortunately, most companies are very understanding and cancel the subscriptions right away.

I accidentally subscribed to three two weeks ago! If you get an email confirmation, just reply with "Please cancel this subscription. Thank you." If you just get a bill, write "Cancel" across the bill and send it back.

Thanks you guys! I feel better now. This particular magazine was Redbook. I clicked on the PAY NOW option, and followed the link to Verify Your Account. I was able to cancel the order this way.

The easiest way I have found to cancel unwanted subscriptions is by looking at the fine print on the back of the invoice/bill they send you. Usually there is a 1-800 or 1-888 customer service number somewhere on there you can call to cancel. That way you don't pay for postage and you know for sure it is done. When I call to cancel, I always very politely ask to file a complaint about the way they put those subscription checkboxes to subscribe on sweeps. I say they are too easy to make a mistake with, and it is costing them money.

As far as if not paying for subscriptions affecting your credit, it is unlikely, but if they were to send it to a collection agency, it might.

I also get lots of magazine subscriptions either from the contest or from all the freebie and samples I sign up for. I just always write cancel on the bill and mail it back the next day. I dont think you'll get sent to a collection agency unless you dont send back the card to cancel or call and cancel.
