I literally have about two minutes to type this out. We are in Nashville trying to find a generator and not having any luck. We have no power ~ no water ~ no phone ~ and no cell right now at the house. They are saying 4-6 weeks before power is restored...I am going to be nuts.

Almost every tree is ruined at my house. I have pictures if I ever get to download them. It has been crazy and I have never seen anything like it. I couldn't even get out of the driveway because of the tree down on the van ~ no damage though!

Jimmie ended up having to work 6 straight shifts....yes, you read that right. They got to nap, but had to be on the job. It has been nuts.

Got to run. I will try to check in with Tracey in a little while before I get back to Greenville.

Wish me luck ~ we are gonna need it!

just talked to tammy and she is doing alright. They did find a generator and are heading back home now. :headbang: I really hope they dont have to go that long without power. It sounds like she has a really big mess there.

Thanks for the update :)

Glad everything is ok. It took about 6 weeks to totally get power restored to the Northeast last month. The hill towns, which are the outlying communities were the last. The heavily populated areas were pretty quickly restored (within 2 weeks). Hope yours comes back soon Tammy.

Glad everyone is ok. Try to stay warm.

I hope you guys are OK and I was wondering why isn't there any aid being offered to all these people without food, water and heat? Has the govenor declared a state of emergency? This all sort of sounds like Katrina. I am thinking about you guys and hoping ya'll are warm. I know it gets expensive runing those generators.

Take care, Tammy.

I'm glad you found two minutes to post because I have been wondering about you. Hope the generator helps. :sunny:

:sunny: That's a pretty long time to be without all the conveniences that we all take for granted.

Yes it is! Some 200,000 people in Arkansas are still without power tonight. Estimates are that it will be the middle of February before all power is retored. Thousands of light poles have snapped, whole towns are without power or water. Northern Arkansas got hit hard; fortunately, my area escaped the worst of it.

For those without power, try to stay warm...go to a hotel, or someone you know with power...single folks or couples can sleep in their cars (which sure beats staying inside a freezing home).

Hope you are doing ok tammy. That has to be terrible. Hang in there. If we can help in any way let us know and I will be praying for you and all the people in the same boat.

This situation is really bad. There are 21 unconfirmed deaths and it's being called the worst natural disaster in Kentucky's history. The Governor of Kentucky is on the news right now. I sure hope FEMA is there now.

I hope Tammy and her family are doing ok.

Hi guys! No ~ I still don't have power...I am down at my Dad's who does. I had to come and let the girls take baths and get ready for school tomorrow morning. I'm not sure how many people are still without power, but it is quite a bit...

We (Muhlenberg County) have made the national news at least twice since the ice storm has hit. The line men that have been in the area said that they have never seen a place so hard hit. We have so many lines down and the trees are crazy. So far we have at least $3000.00 in damage at our house. I dread when the power comes back on to see what else is wrong in the house. Between damage/generator/and food I think we need a tele~a~thon...

It has been such a crazy experience. We finally got phone service restored a couple of days ago. We are still under a boil advisory, but thank God we do have water now! Cellphones are still iffy ~ ask Tracey ~ lol! I can't hear anything at my house. Our allergies our killing us from burning candles. I finally figured out that scented candles are not our friends...

On top of everything else my cat, Mew got skunked...Ashelyn is calling him Pepe Le' Mew. Jimmie has gotten poison ivy from cutting tree limbs. Not just a little case either. A hand, face, neck swelling case. I broke a tooth. Ashelyn has been pukey ~ ahhhh the joys of the ice storm. Who is inviting me to their house for a vacation now???

I remember all of this having been through Katrina and Ike. I'm glad ya'll are hanging in there and I'm sure sorry you all are having to deal with all this.

Glad to hear from you.

I am really irritated that the news has not said very much about this and why aren't we hearing about FEMA helping out. All I heard was that some of the meals were contaminated. I guess Kentucky is not as important as New Orleans. I realize there were more deaths in Katrina but still where's the ourage over not helping these people.

Sorry just had to say that. Didn't mean to get onto a pet peeve of mine. I am thinking about you guys.

 Being an optimist I'm trying to see a bright side but even I can't think of one! Except maybe it will make your family grateful for what they do have when it is working! Hang in there better days are ahead!

Tammy -- TURN OFF YOUR POWER BEFORE THEY TURN IT BACK ON!

Make sure that all your breakers are switched to off.

many times, when they turn it back on, many appliacnes blow and there have been fires from the surge of power. Turn them all off, then one at a time, turn them on when power is restored.

Really glad to hear from you Tammy, sorry you are having such a terrible time. I agree with cin, they should be having more news coverage and getting more help there. Hope they get it together soon.
