I've been a member since 2008 and only recently I've been experiencing a ton of crashes when I'm on here sweeping.I have no problems on Kmart, Goodreads, shopping,Youtube, or Facebook..but I crash on here.I took my computer to my guy this weekend to stop the problem and he said ads on the side are causing Websteroids and others to invade my computer even if I'm not clicking on them.Only reason I narrowed it down to this site is because it's the only time it happens is when I'm on here. So, my question now is..is there anyway to filter the junk so I don't crash?? I have anti-virus, malware, spyware and the whole shebang. He ran a program and removed the junk I had, but as soon as I got it home and got back on here..same thing.Any help would be appreciated..thank you!

If you haven't already, Google it.

I'd never heard of websteroids, so I Google it just for info.

There are numerous websites which discuss them.

Good luck.

Doesn't look like it came from an ad:

Websteroids by Creative Island Media... is ad-supported (adware) software, part of Injekt

Websteroids is an ad-supported (users may see additional banner, search, pop-up, pop-under, interstitial and in-text link advertisements) cross web browser plugin for Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome, and distributed through various monetization platforms during installation.
Websteroids is typically added when you install another free software (video recording/streaming, download-managers or PDF creators) that had bundled into their installation this adware program. When you install these free programs, they will also install Websteroids as well. Some of the programs that are known to bundle Websteroids include 1ClickDownload, Superfish, Yontoo and FBPhotoZoom. Very often users have no idea where did it come from, so it’s not surprising at all that most of them assume that Websteroids is a virus.

Websteroids Removal Report

Websteroids Description
Websteroids is a PUP, or Potentially Unwanted Program, that spies on the victim's online activities, takes over the victim's Web browser and exhibits numerous, irritating advertisements on the affected Web browser. Websteroids is specifically designed to generate advertisement revenue and expose computer users to various types of advertisements, despite the fact that Websteroids is actually marketed as a useful Web browser toolbar or extension. Any benefits that may be gained from using Websteroids are not worth having to handle the various problems that computer users have reported in association with Websteroids. Websteroids may be responsible for browser redirects, pop-up advertisements and performance issues on affected computers. Because of this, malware analysts recommend that computer users avoid Websteroids and that they remove this PUP from their computer if Websteroids has already been installed.

How a PC May Be Infected by Websteroids
Websteroids may enter a computer after a PC user loads a freeware program that is included with this PUP. PUPs like Websteroids are frequently bundled with freeware applications, often popular and legitimate programs.

Annihilating Websteroids and Its Associated Symptoms

Malware researchers recommend that computer users remove Websteroids using normal software uninstalling methods. Once Websteroids has been removed, traces of Websteroids may remain on the affected computer. It is because of this that malware analysts recommend the use of updated security programs to scan the computer, ensuring that Websteroids redirects and pop-ups have not caused it to become exposed to more serious forms of threats. It may be necessary to undo harmful changes made to your Web browser manually.

Okay, maybe I didn't make myself clear..I don't care what Websteroids is or the other junk my computer guy is saying is infiltrating my system..all I know is that is is only coming from THIS site and I wanted to know if there was some kind of filter I could use to keep it off my system.I think SA should carefully scan each ad contributor for invasions like this..just recently..within 2 weeks started happening, so any new clients for ads they took on should be re-examined.No sweeps member wants to go thru this...just saying..

At this point, you are the only member experiencing/reporting this problem, which you say is originating from SA. Since another member and moderator posted information which did not help you, please submit a ticket to the Help Desk via this link:

kcharlton your "computer guy" probably couldn't figure out where it came from - which does matter.

In about 5-10 minutes of searching, I found the above & determined it is most likely something you put on your comp - have you installed anything new lately?
