Think I won something?

I got a call from an 810 area code number today but was sleeping. When I called back it was busy. I have entered a huge amount of soon to expire contest recently and figured it was once of those. But when I called back the line was busy. Either that or it was a wrong number from very far away. Guess if I won something it went to someone else. Do they usually call?
 
Although it's possible someone may call you when you win a prize, most of the time they contact you by email, mail, UPS, or Fedex.

For the 13 years I have been online sweeping, I was only called three times for prizes I won.

Valpak, for example, is one of the rare ones that do call; but they make two attempts before moving on to an alternate winner.
 
Valpak only calls between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., they will make three attempts within a 24-hour period (they upped it from two to three), and they are located in Largo, FL.
 
What a mystery? (810) area code isn't too far from me in Michigan. Hmmmm... I know I get a lot of telemarketing calls too. Plz keep us posted :)

Yes, it's from Michigan but I looked up the number and couldn't get much information about it. I don't owe any bills so it's not a collector and my phone number is private to family and friends. It has to be a sweep but I never received a second call. I really wish I would have been around the phone at the time...bleh. I got the call at 9am. Any sweeps places in Michigan?
 
Any contact numbers I usually got through winning a prize would go back directly to the person calling me. I would normally get their voicemail.

If you look up the whole number in the format of 000-000-0000, you will usually find sites where other people will post getting calls from the same number and what it actually is.
 
:wave: In all the years I have been sweeping (more than 10 years) , I have only been called 4 times. Couple of trip wins, local radio station and once from Valpak. If you are entering your private number for sweeps, it is no longer just know by your family and friends. If you googled the number and nothing showed up, I would also be skeptical that it is a winning call. A promotion company's number would show up as would a company offering a giveaway. Hope you get a great win soon!
 
Thanks for the feedback :) I do put my personal number out on contest forms. I looked up the number and it didn't seem to lead to anything so I'll assume it was a telemarketer that somehow got hold of my digits. I appreciate all the responses...goodluck to everyone!
 
I've only been called by local radio stations (when they call you have to answer on the first call , otherwise they move on to an alternative winner), and twice for magazine wins.

Otherwise everything else I have won I was notified by FedEx or Ups or USPS.

Keep us posted. I've got my fingers crossed!
