I don't know if this should be "news" a grip or a contest.

A week back, a wrestling magazine had a report that WWE's ratings had been so bad, that they were going to DROP the million dollar contest after this last week. I'll try to find the article but basically it stated that they were trying to 'figure a way out of giving away any more money.'

And lo and behold.. wow! And suddenly, last night, while it's NOT in any news I can find (not on CNN, or Fox news, SI or Espn) this happens:

http://www.wwe.com/shows/raw/articles/6960182/mcmahoninjured

SAN ANTONIO – Moments after giving away $500,000 in "McMahon's Million Dollar Mania," the WWE Chairman appeared to be severely injured in a bizarre accident when lighting equipment crashed onto the stage and a large electric sign toppled onto him.

The extent of any injuries were not known at press time, however, the WWE Chairman was immediately treated at the scene by paramedics who fitted him with a neck brace, loaded him onto a stretcher and rushed him to a local medical facility via ambulance.

Not ONE news organization seems to have an article about it..,...

you can figure it out from here. :cussing: :cussing:

PLEASANT RIDGE, Mich., June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- In only one week, over one million WWE fans have signed up for McMahon's Million Dollar Mania, registering over two million sweepstakes entries. Traffic to the promotion site continues to reach historic levels as viewers look to cash in on World Wrestling Entertainment Chairman Vince McMahon's generosity. The frenzy hit an all time high during the June 9 broadcast of Monday Night RAW on the USA Network when users signed up at a rate of 9,000 per minute.

So it looks like it has been a success, and Vince put his OWN money up for grabs :crazytongue:

And, according to the rules:

http://wwe.eprize.net/sweeps/pages/rules.html

Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the Sweepstakes, or any part of it, in any way it deems necessary or appropriate in its sole discretion. In addition, Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or modify the Sweepstakes if any fraud, technical failures or any other factor impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the Sweepstakes, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion.

In the event the technology hosting the Sweepstakes malfunctions or requires updating for any reason, Sponsor and Administrator reserve the right to perform maintenance, during which would-be participants in the Sweepstakes may not have access to the Sweepstakes.

So it looks like they can cancel whenever they want to, so though it may LOOK bogus {Vince being hurt} it could be real

Either he has balls of steel/was in shock {I'd of screamed like a girl and hotfooted it outta there!!! :crazytongue:  } or he knew it was coming - you decide:

This site has the video of it:

No other news organization has picked it up. Strange how a light falls very FAR from the one area and then he jumps and THNE it falls.

everything about WWE is fixed and I find it totally fake since they were "looking for a way to get out of giving the money away" according to their own press people.

He looks so wooden too - and he what, fainted??? Or was he hit?

I've been lied about, and people who knew better believed it, :nono: so I'll reserve judgement on this, but there is a stench.

The rules state that:

If a potential winner cannot be personally contacted in accordance with these Official Rules, or fails to sign and return the Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability and Publicity Release within the required time period, potential winner forfeits prize. Potential winners must continue to comply with all terms and conditions of these Official Rules, and winning is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements. In the event that all six (6) prizes are not awarded during the Event Phase, or in the event any potential winner forfeits a prize after the Event Phase, Sponsor will award the applicable prize to an alternate winner selected by random drawing and confirmed in accordance with these Official Rules. Use of any automated system to participate is prohibited and will result in disqualification

So it's not like he didn't know what a hit his wallet would take, and as I mentioned, they can cancel for ANY reason, so maybe it was a ratings gimmick but they sqaushed it because of that article you noted?

I think it was Stephanie or Shane McMahon trying to kill him to prevent him from giving more of their inheritance away.

In all seriousness though, the WWE was really giving away the money. I think the idea from the beginning was to end it with this story of Vince getting injured. I don't see anything wrong with them deciding to end the sweepstakes except that I don't have a chance to win anymore.

Ratings info from the first week...
WWE RAW Rating Revealed
Story reported by Brian Cantor of Headline Planet
Tuesday, June 10 2008
The verdict is in — did McMahon's million dollars help?

The rating for last week's edition of WWE RAW -- a 3.1 -- painted a pessimistic sign for the impact of McMahon's Million Dollar Mania on the RAW rating. Nonetheless, because the giveaway did not start until this week, there was reluctance to call the competition a definite failure.

That reluctance should now be gone. According to PWInsider.com, this week's RAW posted a 3.0 rating (off hours of 2.97 and 3.06), which not only shows a lack of new interest in the competition, but a failure on WWE's part to fully return to the level it was at before the poor Memorial Day number.

WWE has press conferences and hype planned for the contest, which returns next week; it remains to be seen how WWE will respond to the first wave of proof that the contest is not a ratings generator.

My son put it best. WWE ( World Wrestling Entertainment. ) It's called entertainment for a reason. The money give away and "accident" is only promoting WWE to increase ratings. Just a few months back he also had another accident at the end of the show. Just after he got in his car it supposedly blew up. It's all to promote the show.

by the way...

there is a note on the home page of WWE that they postponed the promotion becuase of McMahons... err "accident" and injuries.

Which makes me wonder how much they gave away, and how many were fake.
