The price of milk....!

What's up with the price of milk? At Kroger the other day, I had to pay $4.12 for a gallon of Kroger brand 2% milk...AACK! :cussing:
 
It is suppose to be up to $5.00 a gallon before it is over. We buy two gallons a week. My kids are going to have to get use to putting gas on their cornflakes :whistle:
 
wow! Thats crazy. I dont even notice anymore. I go thru about two a week also. I did notice when I lived in florida it was almost 4.00. Then we moved to IL and here he was under 3.00. :scratch: I thought that was funny since they have so many dairy farms in florida. off topic- :popcorn: I also noticed in FL apples were cheap but here with all the apple farms they are more expensive. why is that?

They have to recoup for the extra transportation cost from gas going up. It gets added onto the product prices. It also doesn't matter how close you live to a farm, dairy farm, etc. The overall prices are reflective of what the company sets for each region.

I lived most of my life around farmland, and near Pine Island, NY (onion fields). The farmstand prices were always more than what we could get it for in the grocery stores.
 
Between the gas prices and the price of food my paycheck doesn't go very far these days. I can only guess that it's not going to get any better. On the upside, they will have monster sales way before Christmas.

Not us. I know how to shop the sales combined with double coupons. We don't pay much for our groceries. :whistle:
 
I use couponing and refunding as well. It all adds up, and saves me a ton of money over a year. I am a single guy, and I'm a savvy shopper. :) My Kroger bill the other day was $248.08. Using coupons, Kroger savings, and double coupon savings...I managed to save 42% off my grocery bill! That is $172 in food savings in one trip.

I really do not understand why more people don't use coupons to buy their groceries. It's like throwing money in the trash, with coupons you could have used for your normal products and brands. Oh well...I'll take those savings, if others won't... :)
 
I am paying $4.89 for milk. I don't like milk but, my kids need it so I try to keep milk in the house most of the time. I ran out tonight though and need to pick some more up.

I agree about the coupons. I have a big pile I need to go through that was sent to me. I don't get the sunday paper here that often because, they sell out quickly.
 
The walmart brand milk has just reached $4.00 a gallon, last week it was $3.86. If anyone has a braum's near, it's $.75 cheaper there. I buy canned milk for cooking. That way even when the kids go through a whole gallon of milk in 2 days,....I can still make that Hamburger Helper..LOL
 
I am in central Illinois and am paying a couple of cents under 4 bucks! And more if you stop at the station to pick up a gallon... unreal!
