The definition of insanity...

They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing, over and over, expecting a different outcome. Like entering sweeps for an hour+ a day, for over 7 years, and only winning one large prize - a Napa trip back in 2009. No cruise, no car, no cash, no vacation for over 6 years. I'm about ready to quit for good. I'll see how I feel after taking a week off to drive the family to San Diego for our vacation.

So far in 2015: 2 TWIX bars, 3 TWIX music downloads, 3 bags of Skittles, and a trial-sized jar of strawberry jam. :(

I'm not begrudging any of you who have had significant wins, I'm just tired of spending so much time on so little return.

I hear you avtechdave - took me 6 years of daily entering {I mean hours each day} to finally hit big in 2010, and from observing winning patterns for others I have concluded if/when I hit big again, it will be next year, lol!

Ways I deal with the frustration of a dry spell:

1} I get outside of my own head by helping others. Either by voting, answering questions, or just getting a little silly. :crazytongue:

2} I avoid the winners circle. It's not that I'm not happy for other members, it's just that I don't need the constant reminder that I'm not one of them - for now. :crazytongue:

3} I hard charge on sweeps, going through all the categories and getting a sense of satisfaction/accomplishment when I get all caught up.

4} I take a break from the computer, since it's gone from being fun to being a chore.

If you keep pushing yourself to enter and things don't change, you will most likely burn out and quit, whereas if you make a decision to take a break for a day or 2, you are still in control.

I *usually* find I return after my mini "vacation" that I'm refreshed and can see things more clearly, so the little things don't get to me, and I enjoy instead of dreading entering my sweeps. :sunny:

In the past 11 years of sweeping, , I've observed that some sweepers win multiple biggies {like at least a trip a year} and that's their winning pattern.

Mine is a bunch of littles, multiple times a week, then a looooooooooooooong dry spell, followed by a decent mid-sized win. I prefer the latter :p

Maybe it's time to read/reread; NOT WINNING ANYTHING? Tips on WHY:

And to remember:

The Sweeper's Credo:

Enter and forget it.

Always be happy for those who win - even when they win "your" prize - and be positive you will win.

Sweeping is a hobby that is all about timing. Especially for those elusive instants! IF you enter at the exact right moment, you will win.

If not? Sad to say you won't. But I assure you - it's nothing personal, and those who win a lot don't have any "secrets" - they are just consistent, persistent, and patient.

I really believe that if you go into it thinking you can't win, well, you'll MAKE yourself right so often you'll start believing it!!!

I truly do believe you have to have a positive attitude - don't get hung up on what others are doing - just focus on entering, then move on to something else - like posting so we can get to know you!!!

So hang in there - and enter, enter, enter - and you'll be posting a win before you know it!!! And remember - every day brings new opportunities to win!!!

My advice, Take a small break if you want to! I hope you win soon! But, hey I know when I took my break, I would pile up in the bed and I mean that is it. Looking back, well that got me nothing but the rest, so, glad I am back! Oh yeah, winning stuff didn't help me either which is confusing  . I had just won a daily sweepstakes with one daily winner, but still chose to take the two week break. I try to enter mine at all different times of the day and night for instants especially. I can't say one time is better than the other I mean a "randomly generated time" could be any time in the world really I think to win an instant prize. I know for me, I tend to stick to form sweepstakes with more than once prize in the promo- I think that is better odds. It's just really luck of the draw I believe. I have entered everyday and then some sweeps where I didn't enter too much and won. I'm just glad I have a form filler as I know my fam. does not but surprisingly they still give it their all. GLA!

Casinos realize a series of small, random wins will keep people playing. Go too long without a win, and gamblers will head for the door to find something else to do. I'm heading for the door (for a while). :)

Enjoy your vacay avtechdave!

Speaking of casinos, I used to go 3-5 times a week w/mom, then, once I started sweeping online, and mom got burned out, I would only go 1x a week. That turned into 1x every 2 weeks {recession} and since the new year, I've gone maybe 3 times!

Well, I'm a glutton for punishment, I guess. I'm still entering daily, it's 7 weeks into 2016, and nothing. Not even a consolation prize! If anyone has some prize winning Mojo to share, send it this way, please!
