What would you do?
I entered a blog contest weeks ago and luckily for me I was the only comment. It said it ended on a certain day and time and I went back to check and I must have won b/c I was still the only comment. Well I never rec'd an email so I WENT BACK AND SHE POSTED TWO DIFFERENT NAMES AS WINNERS... I checked, no comments-- and I also looked at her twitter page...they tweeted 4 hours AFTER the contest was supposed to end. Do I complain? It was a nice prize, I wanted to give to my sister as I knew she had wanted one so bad. I am ticked off.
 
This couldn't really be answered without knowing the specific blog and contest. I would go back to that specific contest and read through the rules again. Some blogs do not pick their winners from any comments left. They may give other acceptable means of entry including an entry form that you may have to click through to.
 
Yep, did that when I was checking it all out. Was pretty specific . Two ways to enter. Comment or tweet-- same end time for both options. Day and specific time it ended as well as no updates ANYWHERE on her blog or twitter.
 
Well then, I would just email her and ask. I have entered comments on blog contests where the comments remain hidden, and I can only see the one I posted. Maybe, it was one of those.
 
I went and sent an email then headed back over to her twitter page,about an hour before the contest ended she tweeted that there was was only one entry.....
 
It is all figured out.. I am the one who was wrong. Feel terrible and rude :hammer: :nono:, but I was very upset. Sorry for wasting folks' sweep time for my dumb bunny stuff!!

Thank you pmeek, I really feel badly though. I commented on the original review post ...looked normal with instructions etc.
but the contest was actually on another "page" that I never saw and there wasn't a link. I felt I was being cheated so her "friends" could win. I am newly humbled, learned I should investigate, and be SURE before I launch into a huffy grumpfest.
:laughing: I also feel silly b/c of the email I sent pointing out what I thought to be true...the poor woman probably smokes now if she didn't already, wondering why her blog attracted such a basket case!!

Don't beat yourself up too much! Mistakes are part of the learning process and it sounds like you learned something. Also, blogs are set up individually, so there is a lot of variation. What happened is understandable. It is good to ask questions, and from your post, it sounds like you read and re-read the rules, investigated, but still missed an important detail in that particular entry process. You probably already communicated with/apologized to the blog owner...who knows...maybe she will set up future contests or giveaways more clearly in the future, so others will benefit from your mistake.

Don't be so hard on yourself. I can't tell you how many magazines I have subscribed to by not realizing I was on the subscription page and not the entry page. We've all done it one way or another.
