Tax question

Anyone know how long I should wait on a tax form? Before I file my taxes ,won a Wii from Pringles back in the spring still no tax form ,they just sent it no affidavit. Thanks
 
1099's on prize wins have to be postmarked by 01/31/08 by the sponsor. If you haven't gotten one by now, I would just print up backup documentation of the lowest retail price you can find on it and use that for your tax return.

For prizes under $600, sponsors aren't required, although they can, to submit a 1099. You're on the honor system in that case.
 
I won a Wii from Pringles too... No affy, and no tax form either. So, I'm just assuming nothing needs to be done....
 
I didn't receive a 1099 for my shrek/hillshire grand prize. over 3000.00. I also didnt get one for the 500.00 us savings bond and I was sure I would for that one.
 
Just a suggestion, but I wouldn't publically announce not reporting a prize because it was under $600 and/or no 1099 was issued. This is out in the public, and you never know if sites like this get checked to pull up a person here and there for audit.

Also, not receivng a 1099 is not proof that one was never sent into the IRS. :whistle:
