Sweepstakes vacations

Why does it seem most all the sweepstakes are for trips/vacations? What happened to the electronics, gift baskets, etc? I'm a widowed mom of 2 boys. I can't do any of those trips....grrrrr

I agree there are alot of trip sweeps and as a mother of a 2 yr old I can't go either. Also had a bad experience flying one time and will never do it again. There does need to be a better selection of prizes. Good Luck to you :)

 I hadn't noticed that and I do play for trips. I don't play for all the trips but I do play for places that I would like to go to. I have more sweeps saved in my gift card and cash sweeps than I do in my saved trips sweeps. I guess I am just happy that we still have many companies offering up sweeps that I probably just didn't notice.

I love trip sweeps, won one and waiting for another. The issue I have with them is that it seems that more of them are allowing very little time between the end of the sweeps and the travel dates, often less then a week or two. My +1 has to give 30 days notice for vacation time, so I can not enter many of these contests.

 ves911 - Oh boy, do I hear you!!! I can't/won't travel, so I'm VERY picky on what I enter :crazytongue:

Prizes are cyclical/seasonal {like lots of good IW/DP sweeps in the summer and the end of the year} so I just wait it out and enter what I'm really into when too many have trips as the GP

IF a sweeps with a trip as the GP has multiple lower tier prizes I'd like to win, I check the rules to see if they will redraw the GP JIC I accidently win it. :crazytongue:

HOWEVER, IF they do give $$$ in lieu, I'll go for it

BUT - if they state no $$$ in lieu, or that prizes will remain unawarded if winner turns it down, I skip it.

I have to admit I am giggling to myself how different we all are, I have been sweeping three years now and never won a trip. I want one, but have not had that luck yet. The few big prizes I have won were electronics a great speaker and a guitar. Oh well I guess that just the nature of sweeping. :sunny:

I hadn't noticed that there were any more than usual, but I am noticing that a lot fewer of them seem to be all inclusive. I see a lot of trip prizes that don't cover some or all of the transportation costs, or are doing gift cards instead of transportation costs (and in sum's that won't touch the whole cost of flight + rental car), aren't tacking on as many meals or any spending money, etc.

Granted, the trip I won last year was a "selective costs" trip (basically a several-night cabin rental and a couple meals) and we still got a great deal of enjoyment out of it. The money we saved on the freebies gave us more out of pocket to play with on the stuff we tacked on outside the parameters of the win, but it was by no means a "free" trip.

And the hotel gift card I won came in handy to keep the cost down on a vacation we were going to go on regardless of any wins.

But I would still love to win a trip that takes complete care of me from the moment I step into the airport until the moment I land back at home. (The longer I'm at this, the more specific the dream prizes seem to get...)

I have only been doing sweepstakes since Nov of last year. That's when I entered everything under the sun..lol. I did win a trip. Almost didn't go since I don't have a significant other anymore. That's one of the reasons I don't like to enter for trips. no one to go with. I did enter a certain sweepstakes cuz there were two destination...one was for New Mexico and the other was in Huntington Beach, CA. Thats where I live lol. I figured if I won, I could manage to pop back and fourth to the kids. Nope, I got picked for New Mexico hahaha Anyhow, My trip was the most outstanding adventure I've ever done. It was the TNT Murder Mystery weekend at the Hyatte Regency, Rizolie & Isles/The Closure. All expenses paid, flight, limo svc, all food and open bar, prepaid visa card and an awesome interactive mystery all weekend. I didn't want to leave!!!
