Sweepstakes Comments

Just a note to some that are new to this forum. And some that aren't so new.

I have noticed more and more that there are various comments posted on the sweeps pages that are really inappropriate. If one goes and looks at the basic rules for this forum you will notice that "sponsor bashing" is not allowed.

If you personally don't like a prize offered in a sweep ... too bad. Don't enter it then. But please don't post negative comments about it here just because it's prize doesn't live up to your personal expectations. A company/sponsor doesn't have to offer sweeps, prizes, or anything else if they don't want to, and they definately don't have to plan it around what one particular person might desire. Entering a contest is a privilege NOT a right.

I personally would hate to see word get around among sponsors that Sweepstakes Advantage is a nest of "sponsor bashers". Trust me ... they do check this forum on a regular basis. Along that line: if you plan to send off a whiny little email to a sponsor just because you don't like their selection of prizes ... please don't post that fact here. Don't make us all look bad.

Of course there is always some prize/freebie that is too bizarre to pass up and not make a comment on. My favorite was the 'nipple bleach' last year.

Let's all hang loose and have fun winning!!!! :thewave:

Loren :crazytongue:

I've noticed that too in the posted sweepstakes comments, and it seems to be the same people. It doesn't just stop with complaining about the prize. I've noticed repetitive complaints from the same person about the sponsor whenever a sweepstakes entry is down or not working. This happens, sometimes more than we like, get over it. I, for one, am tired of the constant complaining and whining.

Maybe we need to ignore constant complainers. God is gracious in giving us the opportunity to keep winning, there is no need to complain all the time.

Every forum have those, they come to distrupt peace.

SA members ain't having it:

I also want to add to my list. Ooh, I have a list! There's another member that posts the same thing in the comments for car prizes warning us of the evils of owning such a vehicle.

When I see that there are comments left, I check them expecting to find information pertaining to the sweepstakes. I don't need my time wasted clicking on these comments just to find it's no more than complaining, whining, and preaching.

 I missed that one. There was one recently about a "big penis book" under a female health magazine sponsor. I did enter out of curiosity.

 Welcome Back Loren! We do miss you when you are gone. Thank you so much for the enlightening post. You are so right. Sponsors are under no obligation at all to run contests/sweepstakes. I am so glad they do and try to use their products as much as I can.
It's one thing if the item arrived broken, but if the item is intact please accept it with grace. If you want to complain go tell it to the wind as we don't want to hear it.

Hey Loren! Haven't seen ya in awhile, good to see ya. I like the picture you put up. Great to see ya around again.

I've been sweeping for a couple of years and I found NOTHING to complain about when it comes to prizes and sponsors. The sponsors have been very generous. and I can honestly say I've received all my prizes except for one. I found everything to be great quality. And sometimes the sponsors throw in alittle more than was listed. Or sometimes they experience a glitch and too many prizes are awarded , and they still honor the prizes that were awarded during that time frame when the glitch occured. I remember Bacardi doing that last year. Everyone that didn't really win still received a nice box of prizes, remember? I know I was one of those many people that they still sent nice prizes too. I find the sponsors to be very generous.

Some people who are new at sweeping don't realize that it might take a LONG time to receive their prize. You might win right away when the contest starts, and it might run for a couple of months, and then when it ends, you still have to wait another 8-12 weeks. You just have to be patient.

I remember before I found SA , I had briefly joined another sweepstake site and I left because some of the members were constantly writing unacceptable comments.

I love this site. It's full of nice , thoughtful, giving members. You just have to look at the Members Contest page to see what some members give away.

Maybe those that complain need to be gently reminded that they should be thankful that the companies sponsor these prizes otherwise we would have to go out and purchase it.

Have a great weekend everyone. -Thumbelina

...and I'll raise you a bump.

Same old, same old. Someone was being rude in the comments again yesterday. They should just delete anything not pertinent to the sweepstakes itself! :headbang:

I agree. It should be for codes, advice on what to do if there is a problem.. like not working FF etc.. not to slam the sponsors.

I guess everything's coming out pink! LOL

I have been around ... just not posting much. Unless something gets my feathers ruffled. :) Then I can't resist!

Since I had shoulder surgery in March it's been difficult to do much typing. When one is in an opiate-induced state of lethargy (legal, of course) you don't feel much like entering contests. But then again ... you really don't give a flyin' hoot that you didn't either! :crazytongue: :crazytongue:

I haven't been winning anything, but I have just been doing one entry stuff. The daily/instant wins just take toooo much time since I am still on dino-time with my slow 56k dial-up.

Planning a couple trips for later this year. Hope to see my cousin in Germany (who I hadn't seen in 30 years until this summer) and maybe see my Sister in N. Carolina (17 years for her). But, I am either going to have to win something or else rack up more air miles to do both!

So that is about it for me ... doesn't seen NGM liked my photos so there will be no bragging, but I'll try again next year.

Hey ~ you are speedy compared to mine, lol! Mine is suppose to be 56k, but is at a whopping 28.8k at all times now. Needless to say, I can't wait until my modem comes for my high speed! Counting the days...

Glad to hear you are pretty in pink now also

Hey Loren good to see you posting again sir. I do hope its a regular
thing to happen plus adding your wins, of course. Good Luck on getting
the shoulder back to normal or as normal could be, I suppose.

I too, dislike seeing posts that have a negative effect on the sponsors
of sweepstakes. Each company and their judging agencies do the best
they can, I'm sure. I am always so proud and happy to be chosen that
complaining isn't a part of my existance.

Thank You for bringing up the subject for discussion..................manswife

Even though I too find those kind of comments annoying, and wish that everyone would realize that SA has NO control over what a sponsor offers/how they set up their sweeps, posting about it here probably won't accomplish much since they might never see this thread.

From personal experience, trying to respond to these types of comments will most likely just insure they turn their ire on you, so PLEASE don't anyone try, OK? :)

For the most part, our members DO get what comments are for, and those that don't will figure it out eventually or grow tired of posting if they don't get any responses. :)

I believe that if we started censoring/restricting the comments, it would reduce the amount of helpful and informative posts, so I've moved this thread to Gripe/Vent where it belongs :headbang:

Praise God!!

No, seriously. I agree. It's like anything else one may encounter on a message board they do not like. Overlook it and move on.

And folks will be apprehensive about posting comments if the censoring/restricting of post comments commences.

Here we can agree to disagree - anything that is not directly sweeps related is, IMHO, just for fun/stress relief, and if offensive needs to be censored/restricted.

Let me explain myself - Where you'd have less people being involved/contributing if we started censoring/restricting the comments, the opposite is true if we DIDN'T do so in the forums. I know I'd stay away if the spammers were given free reign, as one example. :)

Hey all you out here in Outer Mongolia!

Sorry if I created a major brouhaha by posting a nice general statement on our site etiquette and then it got shuffled off to the least read section of the forum. (but the Gods be gods)

Bummer.

But now that I know that anything goes (unless, of course, it bashes mothers, newborn babies, Ethiopian goats, or Yak's milk) so: all in the name of good fun, please stand by for some real " 'winger' one-liners" from me in the most unusual places ....

I like "no rules"!!!

Let's see how long before I get banned for non-offensive humor! :) At least it's humor .... a joke a day ... or more ... DEPENDS upon how many appropriate (or unappropriate) places I see to use it!!!!

Sounds like fun!!!! remember that a smile a day keeps the Rhino away!

Luv's, :)

Loren
